How do you use your truck in the snow - plowing?

Decided to create a rear plow. Getting too old to be manually pushing snow down a 300ft long driveway. Rear view camera really helps. Is there a better way?

If that works for you that is fine, but if this is just for your own driveway I would suggest an attachment on the front of a lawn tractor and use chains on the rear wheels.

Snowblower works too. But it can get pretty chilly. The nice part is you don't have piles of snow every where

Believe it or not, I have a small tractor with blade with tractor tread and chains and it will hardly come back up the driveway. Chain on asphalt on a steep hill not so great. And it's not exactly a light tractor.
The truck in 4 wheel drive does much better and keeps you warm inside as well. I really need a 4 wheel drive tractor.

Honda snow blower with tracks works the best on hills, but if the rear plow works for you go for it.

:burnrubber:Kubota L2550 loader with bucket mounted plow and rear PTO snowblower... moves that shit like a boss! :burnrubber:

The rear plow is a neat idea... just would hate backing up for 300 ft... IF funds allow this would be your best/warmest option

Yep we know how to make plows up here in Maine. Must be good if they buy them in Alberta too.

Actually, I'm from the Maritimes (Nova Scotia)... Just moved here ~9yrs ago.

My father swore by them (he plowed my entire childhood, 6-16 y/o) & after 20+ yrs of mechanical "tinkering" myself (jack-of-all/master-of-none kinda guy) I can understand why.

It's a far superior design, and minimizes loss of snow during the "fold" (HT series or larger)... Plus the Homesteader comes with a replaceable poly blade.

    ;)

Do you have any suspension mods? I have looked into this set up a few times, but haven't seen or heard any real word feedback.

I haven't plowed with it yet so there's no feedback there. I'm just going to use it for my driveway and I'll still use the ATV for small dumps. I put 5100's on the front set at 1.75 and I have about 550 lbs of lead to put in the bed. I do expect some rubbing and depending how bad it is I may have to do something about it. I think I paid about $3500.00 for it and another $500.00 for someone do do the wiring. I should have done that myself as the guy made several rookie mistakes.

Definitely! Buy a contractor grade snowplow!

Are you looking for a better way on a budget? In Louisville you can't get too many storms throughout the season... probably $40 to have someone else do it... Weigh the $40 each storm against a $4000 plow system. $4000 buys a lot of times having someone else do it.

Here in NH I have to use a snowblower or at some point in late Feb. I will have to pay to have an excavator come in. That's an expensive day, but with plowing, you can only push it so far for so long. A snowblower is a MUST for my particular property.

    I try not too...

It's not me I worry about. It's all the other fucksticks out there that can't drive.

I have the all steel Meyers plow on my 2013 Tacoma and love it. Over a foot of wet stuff and its tough on it solely due to the truck weight buy I use a large concrete block on the bed and plow in 2 wheel drive quite a bit. This past storm I went through 3 foot drifts of powdery stuff with ease.

Here's my setup. She did great even in the 3 foot drifts but this was very powdery stuff. If it were wet I'd been hating life.
