How does the dealer KNOW my maintenance is due?

Newbie question: How does the dealership know that my Tacoma is due for its maintenance? They always call me relentlessly every day until I answer wihen my 5K or 10k reminders light up in the truck. They definitely have inside knowledge. Is it the Toyota app? Or is the truck capable of sending the data wirelessly/remotely in some other way?
I find the calls annoying, since I do all of my own maintenance, but even more so it feels like an invasion of my privacy. I will delete the app if that’s all it takes. I find it pretty pointless anyway except for checking tire psi.
I should have just asked when they called last time but I didn’t. Can anyone tell me how the dealer KNOWS my truck is due for maintenance?

Or they look at your service records and get an idea of the mileage you put on between the dates. So if you did 5000 in six month they guesstimate you next one is about 6 months out.

It's likely the telematics unit. Pull the 10A DCM fuse under the hood. You'll lose the bluetooth mic and any remote services (SOS button, remote start) but whatever. ET will no longer phone home.

Don't worry, all that data will get hacked eventually. It's only an issue when they start selling your girlfriend's address to your wife

It's always time for maintenance at the dealer.

I remember sitting through a service writing class where the teacher said a good business model for a shop to strive for is roughly half their work be maintenance.
    50% maintenance
25% repair (like actual broken stuff)
    25% diag/troubleshooting

The dealership starts texting me like crazy after six months saying it is time. Last time.it happened, I called them and the service advisor said I wasn't due for another 6 months (minimum). Pretty weird..

Thanks for the replies. Those suggesting they might just predict and time it right are naive. I drive alot and I hit 5k miles within 60 days of ownership. RING, RING! Then I hit 10k at about 3 months. RING, RING! Then 15k at 6 months. RING, RING!
They know. And I dont appreciate the salesmanship. Puts a bad taste in my mouth. I had a newer Ford Raptor for a few years fully loaded with tech and never got a call from the dealer once. Just like I like it. Props to Ford, I guess. At least I know my options moving forward. I appreciate the info!

And yet it was asked in 2018, before there was a such thing as 2-way telemetry on the Tacoma.

if you're hitting 5,000 miles every 3 months, that's a pretty easy pattern to recognize...

sounds like it's time to start changing it up a little and driving alternate vehicles on various moods/days.
