So I’m interested in buying this 2021 TRD Pro at a dealership with 22k miles. They’re asking $43500 for it. I asked for pics of the undercarriage and this is what they sent me. What do you think ?

and yes, if I do plan to try and buy it I’d negotiate a better price just seeing if it’s worth it. Thanks.

I would pass and look for a cleaner truck IMO.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
I see you're on Long Island. Where did this truck spend much of its time?
Looks like a typical Northeast USA truck that's experienced our wonderful deicing chemicals used in the Winter.
It may not have been undercoated or treated for rust & corrosion. This may not be a deal killer but certainly deserves some consideration when it comes to the OTD price.

Looks like it's been on roads that were salted. That's typical for north east states. Some vehicles fair better or worse than this. It just depends on if the owner washed the under carriage regular or had any rust prevention treatments done like fluid film or Krown.

I'm in southern Pennsylvania and my 2020 looks way better than that but then I put rattle can fluid film on it and touch it up every year since before it's first winter.

I know New York state winters destroy vehicles. When I was in my 20s I was looking for a vehicle in the classified ads. Found a Mazda B2600 for a fair price with 50,000 Miles. Went to look at it. Overall the inside and from first appearance it looked OK. Then I started the engine. The thing sounded like the muffler was missing. Looked under it and the muffler was totally rusted to nothing but the pipes. Opened the hood found the radiator support near rusted through. Went back to ask the lady of the house where the truck had been she said it was in Rochester since new and they just moved here. After looking under the truck more at the frame and seeing only rust all the metal I decided even free I'd pass.

Umh, where's the rust? Looks to have some rust proofing or undercoating which has dirt encrusted in it. As long as it's not an actual undercoating and is just some cosmoline or fluidfilm, I think it's fine.

NH here. You have to be joking saying this is a pass. It’s 3-4 years old and looks like it’s a year old. This is fine and doesn’t even have much surface rust. Someone washed and cared for it. I coat my frames too and am very impressed if this wasn’t coated. Get the rest of it checked out by a mechanic if you want the peace of mind.

Personally I would be a little hesitant spending that much on a truck with such a dirty undercarriage. I would defiantly want to stick my own head under it and take a deeper look.

Ask to take it for a test drive. Hit the nearest car wash, get on the ground under it, get wet, clean it up and see what it looks like. If it’s just dirt then you have to decide if the $ is worth it.

    IMO

I guess I am use to southern cars where a 3-4 year old truck undercarriage looks pretty much new.

fwiw... from the looks of the exhaust system, I would guess that truck has seen a lot of wide open throttle use.
And the exhaust crossover pipe is half crushed...

Honestly, I'm more curious why the front of the trans pan looks wiped clean.

So this truck is actually a bit upstate. Probably 2 hours north of me.

Honestly, I can not really tell. maybe my screen doesn't have enough pixels? because it looks ok to me.

no, wait, it is trashed. the owner is a POS because there is some dirt on the chassis. LMFAO, that is how some of you sound :crapstorm:

Just looked at the listing. Was going to post it but I decided if you want to post the listing you can. That's a pretty good deal. Low miles for a 3 year old car. Clean Carfax Not a fan of the white only because of the complaints I read on here but maybe they got that peeling thing sorted out. Some comparables for sale are more money (45k) for a 2020. One is near me.

It may just look dirty due to it being treated with a product like fluid film or LPS3 and driven on dirty or dusty roads.
