I have a new 2015 that I got in Spring. The Odometer is about to hit 5K Miles.
I got a notofication the I am due for my 5K check up and oil change.
How do they know? I here that there is a stealth box in the truck that they use for tech data that encludes mileage. A friend at work, same deal, with in a few undred mile he gets a post card. Hmmm!

You must drive an "average" amount. I never got the 5k notification. I drive more than average, apparently. The funny part is that they adjusted their expectations of my driving accordingly and hit my 10 - 25k intervals pretty close. I drive over 15k miles per year.

They estimate the first one based on average drivers. After you get your service done they try to estimate your driving distances for the subsequent intervals. Like Siesta said.

    Yup, it ain't rocket science.

I love when we get cards in the mail from various auto repairs that have our make and model on them. My wife is amazed they know this info.

    Cheap ebay bumper, plus others
It's all based on 1k per month average. I received a 15k notice, but only have 9,600 on the odo.

I work out of town, had wifey take the truck in for the first oil change at 1500kms.

Got home and the "next oil change" sticker on the window said 16500kms.

    Must have been a Friday

Installed Cooper At/3's (265/70R16) and ProComp 7089 Rims. Tinted front windows. Did the Fog Light Anytime mod. Did the tailgate mod. Added running boards. Adding sound Deadening from RAAMaudio. Replacing stock speakers with Polk Audio DB6501's.
I just got my notice 6 months after buying the truck. Millage was 1650. They know I never make the millage interval. Notice came day after the scheduled appointment.
