They finally realized that mistake and started putting them in 2012s.

Agreed, it was a huge miss before then. Maybe they thought the plastic cleats were good enough, but those are a poor substitute for a proper tie-down hook.

Exactly. That’s why I made my own matt to cover only 1/3 of the bed length near the cab and placed items I don’t want to slide there. 1/3rd the cost as well.

Almost 20 years of hard New England winters on my son's 2005 LB AC (and 240,000 miles) with no fading, warping or that sparkley fiber fuzz you see on some composites after a few years. (like my 2014 black door handles) It has some superficial scratches, but no gouges and no cracks. My 2014 (130,000 miles) has worked a little harder at some point during its life, but again, only some surface scratches and nothing else (130,000 miles). I immediately put an OEM bed mat in it when I got it.

Composite beds are the cats meow. Been abusing mine since 2011. No issues, added front D rings shortly after purchasing truck as they are a must for transporting motorcycles. A few scrapes on it but no dents, rust, paint scraped off or anything else associated with metal beds. Less slippery than the metal ones once they are roughed up a bit.

I haven't put anything out of the ordinary other than furniture, boxes and dirt in the bed.

    Composite works fine for me.

Yes, it is not easy to slide things with the bed mat but I cope with it.

My composite bed is great for my run of the mill homeowner type duties. If you do things that exceed the design or expectation of a 1/4 ton, mostly off-road styled truck, then maybe there is more to be discussed. But i love my truck and the composite bed will last me far longer than a metal bed design.

This. I had to drill it with a spade bit to install a rocker switch for my bed cap interior lights and was pleasantly surprised with how thick the bed is. It's at least 1/2 - 3/4in tick, which to me is more than enough.

Lift, sliders, skids & some other stuff.
I have a Bed Rug in mine. Stuff slides in without sliding around. If I need a little more slide or to protect the rug, I throw in a couple sheets of cardboard. The plastic bed, and the truck it's attached to will probably outlast me.

Did you really expect it to stand up to sharpened carbide?

Same here, Eucalyptus rounds lifted to the bedrails, and then pushed and dropped in. BOOM BOOM BOOM! Repeat.

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
Works for me. Bought my 2016 used, had it 5.5 years now.

Truck was bought for off road use and over 160 pretty hard core trips with it now. Always looking for remote lakes on the worst trails that other fishermen won’t drive.

Spring to Fall, the bed is weekly loaded and unloaded with camping and fishing gear. In winter I drag several 65 pound sandbags in and out weekly for traction weight for snow trail off roading.

I have never even once run a hose in the back to wash it out. Thats on purpose. I am collecting a menagerie of odd forest bugs and trees in the back to study when I get bored.

The bed is holding up well, no issues.

GMC has their pro-carbon bed in some of their 1500's
    https://www.gmc.com/gmc-life/news/carbonpro-delivers-innovation-durability
"CarbonPro is made of the same raw material found in seven-figure super cars and even aerospace applications"
They should have added, "even the Toyota Tacoma, so you know that sh!t is good"
