Yup, confirmed, regional. I have 45 options here in SoCal, then I put a New Orleans zip code of 70130 and only got 16 options, one being the tailgate lock mentioned earlier.

Is there really a big buyers market out there for tailgates? Who's looking to buy one other than the one's who had them stolen?

I think the main buyer's are people who have damaged theirs, and unfortunately people who've had them stolen.

It's been a problem for a long time. I remember hearing about it when I bought my 07. 2nd gens were notorious for getting stolen. I'd see them on craigslist from time to time. That's one of the main reasons I added popnlock on my 3rd gen.

So all the other manufactures that lock the tailgate when you lock the door, what would you call that?

I bought mine from the dealer and from the factory it was a option. Had it done locks with my key fob.

    It's not a factory option, it's a dealer-installed option.

It was a port option. As it was done before it hit the dealer. But either way it has it. Good day.

My Pro purchased in Atlanta earlier this year had this port option installed.

Pop n lock is seriously easy to install. Pretty cheap, too, considering what it's protecting. It would also ward off moron thieves that would try to steal it despite a hose clamp or lock and leave the tailgate and other parts mangled. $80 and 1/2 hour of time is well-worth it, IMO.

It's either find out about it this way, then give yourself time to do something about it.

Or find out the hard way.
