I have a 2008 TRD OR DCSB with the 4.0L, 265/70/16 tires, 3" lift. i run only 93 octane fuel, full synthetic oil change at dealer every 5k miles, no performance mods, no scanguage, and i have NOT removed the secondary air filter.. yet.

    1. 400 miles to a tank consistently
    2. ~40 miles is all im willing to push after the light comes on...

Not gonna bother reading thru all the 2008 posts, but for everything this year I don't see any 4 cylinder owners in this thread yet.

Thats gotta hurt the pocketbook. That's like, 15 mpg if I did that

For comparison, I just touched the 3/4 mark at 170 miles today. Gauge is useless.

    Filled up this morning,

    409 miles on 18.05 gals - 22.6mpg

Fuel light on this truck comes on too early I could probably squeeze out 80 miles after the light comes on.

360 miles till the truck shut off from lack of gas. Never checked after the light came on.

Wow how you do that? I got almost the exact same truck and I can go maybe 320 before light comes on and never go over 25 miles with the gas light on. The only difference is I use regular gas could 93 octane really make that much difference? If so ill use it.

    2. Haven't tried yet...

Keep in mind that some are Prerunners. Huge difference in fuel economy between that and a 4x4...

I usually fill up at about 350 ish miles, whuch is before the light comes on and it will take 16 to 17 gallons. Recently I pushed it to 396. The light came on about 355 miles and when I filled up I put in about 18.5 gallons.

90% of my driving is highway miles with cruise control set at 64mph. Totally stock.

there is not a signifigant change from 4x4 to prerunner. Check toyota.com to look at the different in the stock forms.

EDIT: nvm...went ahead and pulled that down. this is for the same trim, same tranny, just a 4wd vs prerunner difference...

I have a double cab Prerunner, completely stock. I consistently get around 375 miles before I fill up, and go about 30 miles after the light comes on. 90% highway around 65-75mph. I've kept numbers on my last 5 fill-ups and have been getting around 22mpg.

i think the difference is a few hundred lbs, that should easily account for a real world difference 2-4 mpg difference between a prerunner and 4x4, although toyota website doesn't acknowledge the mpg differnce

    1. 275 miles is my personal best (72mph, all highway through a few mountain passes)

    2. 25 miles is my personal best without running out of gas.

    Damn you 33"s.......
