The shortest route is 68 miles one way. Depending on the time of day though, the shortest route isn't the fastest, so the route I usually take is 80.4 miles.

So my daily round trip is anywhere between 136 and 161 miles.

78 miles round trip... 80% highway. But I leave early in the am and the drive is smooth. No traffic.

3 miles each way, all on local roads. With traffic lights it takes about 10 minutes. When the weather is nice I'll ride my bike or occasionally walk.

42 miles one way. 50 mins+/-. 70% hwy. For 8 yrs did it solo on active duty. Last 5 yrs civil service, in a carpool; I drive it 1 or 2 times a week depending on rotation, passenger the rest. The carpool makes a huge difference.

I forgot to mention the tolls! Right now, I could drop $20 a day in tolls if I chose to go that route. When the new hot lanes open next month I've figured out that taking the toll roads the whole way during rush hour it would be possible to spend $50 a day commuting!

    (I take surface streets)

There is actually NO upper limit on the amount of toll they can charge per mile based on the traffic conditions. I'm basing my $50 a day estimate based on what they think it's going to end up costing. $.30 per mile for 29 miles, then about $6 (usually. I've seen it higher) on I-495 and then $3.50 for a quick trip down the Dulles toll road.

That's one way. So its getting pretty close to $50.

Yet another reason to not go back there. I was born and raised around Richmond.

137 miles door to door one way.
274 round trip if I don't have any detours.

The good news is I only do it twice a week. The other three days the commute is from the bedroom to the office.

About 120 miles round trip total, 3 or 4 days a week. About 110 of which is interstate the rest mostly state highway & 6 lane city surface streets. I also have a total of 1 mile of county roads & 1/2 mile of drive way. It's always 58 minutes both direction (door to door). The 4Runner is averaging about 21mpg. I almost always drive exactly the speed limit.

Thats what i will start doing when the weather gets warm, i think im going to start riding my bike. If i lived in town limits i would just walk, but there is about a half mile of stores and gas stations id have to try and walk through and cross the main road in an intersection, so riding a bike would be better for me to do.
