So for a reason which I won't get into I need a way to turn off the airbags. If I disconnect the battery and then remove the connectors from the computer will it just not come on? Or is there another way. I've been told that even some static can set them off when messing with the connectors.

So are you looking at a way to take them offline when needed and online when in the street?

Essentially. But really I only need to take them offline once for a few minutes.

yes. I don't think it will be an issue as the speed will be low. It's mostly just additional insurance.

The only way to do it is lay a bunch of grounds to each sensor in series with a switch in the cab. Kind of a waste of time. They don't go off very easily. That would be the easiest way at least.

Disconnecting the cables from the computer will not accomplish this?

That would be an open in the line and they would go off. I think they sense an open and ignite upon that. At least that's how my Honda toy works. The accelerometer in the sensor creates an open on impact and sends that to the computer and the airbag goes off. The CAD in the bags gets its voltage separate from the sensor.

It will be a separate wire for each bag.

airbags won't go off unless you are hit or a bad sensor or something triggers it plus why are you even concerned about it in the first place

I uhh... Installed a winch in my elite bumper. Forgot to put a couple bolts in and then it pulled forward during a recovery about half of an inch. I tried just lining it up against a wall and pushing but I only gained an eighth of an inch. Still another quarter or so until the holes will line up. Was going to give a few inches space and tap it back into place. Don't want to end up with a face full of airbag.

Just a few little things. It's my DD
I was wondering why you need air bags off, did you put it in low range and try pushing against a wall? Have somebody try and put a bolt in as you push( if its safe) not sure i would try to ram it back in to place. Maybe get a porta-power and push it.

Glad to hear you have a good reason for needed air bags off, I was expecting something crazy like I wanna jump across the moon or something!

Yeah, Low range against a wall I started to spin. Although I can't find a wall with asphalt, only smooth concrete like in an underground. I did not air down though, so this is another option I have yet to explore. Not to sure what I'd use on the other side of a porta power or hydraulic jack. I did think of this already.
