hense where I said "most" vehicles don't use manual hubs. And actually the fords are auto hubs with a manual option for those situations when you want to be sure they are locked in, been that way since the superduty came out in '99. Dodge and Chevy don't use manual hubs and are permanently locked in in there hd trucks and they handle any of the "extreme use" scenarios and 1000+ hp truck pull scenarios just as well as anything else. Chevys been that way since '88 and I'm sure if there were problems with the CV axles turning at highway speeds they woulda changed something by now. So once again you'll be fine in 4x4 at whatever speed you need.

My .02 I use it at any time conditions warrant use... I have gone 75 with it engaged for extended periods of time in many different vehicles, and have yet to experience any issues.

I do 70-75mph on the interstate in Colorado frequently though I engage and disengage below 55mph. I'll have it on when on side roads though turn it off when I turn unless I'm running on loose snow during a storm.

I've been north of 80mph on the highway.
I also use the 4x4 in the rain.
Takes most of the assy-ness out of the truck.
    Seems just fine.

    I engage/disengage below 60 though.

I am more confused after reading the replies.

For some reason, I seem to remember it being addressed thoroughly in the owner's manual, although I don't remember what it said?

In the owners manual it says 62 mph...where that specific, magic number came from IDK... If I'm in 4WD I don't need to be going that fast honestly.

Ah, my mistake. That being said I guess find an abandoned air-strip or salt flat and toss it in 4-Hi and pin it until the transfer case lets go...subtract 5mph and we should be good. :D

AWD that would be fine. 4WD I would never drive 20 miles down a road at highway speeds. Turn it on in your neighbor hood for a mile or two and it would do what you're looking for. That's bassicaly what I do with my truck.
