They are trying to make it seem realistic... Like when you had that one teacher who would make you grade yourself in school. Low A or high B but never A+. You don't want to seem full of yourself.

I know I hydroplane like a bitch with these tires. I had some Goodyear Assurance tires when I had my Mazda3 and it was 100x better than these.

Well hang in there. I know looking at the obs, etc. (im a weather forecaster for the air force here) and the storm surge it was definately knarly. As long as you and your loved ones are healthy and alive thats all that matters, insurance will take care of the rest. Sucks about your inlaws shop, I love my tools and would be pretty upset if they became water logged, etc. I know there's some knarly stuff today with freezing rain and winds, etc with that next low pressure system, hopefully still hanging in there, Im down in florida for deployment training so missing out.

POS. ware out fast! and just suck! handling, wet road performance and cornering, ride comfort all improved soo much when i got the Nitto terra grapplers.

For on-pavement use the Rugged Trails were very good. They were quiet and remained stable up to 110 mph (closed course, professional driver... :anonymous:). The Rugged Trails have noticeably more grip in the corners than my Firestone Winterforce snow tires. For 90% of Tacoma buyers who will never venture off road, the Rugged Trails are the appropriate OEM tires.

The stock Tacoma can pull 0.72 g on the skidpad, 59 mph in the slalom, and has best-in-class braking distance.

Old thread but what can I expect going from rugged trails to all terrains? Is it a win win in all categories (mpg, wet roads, snow, mud, handling, noise, vibration) or am I going to be giving something up?

What's better, the KO's or KO2s. I'm mostly highway driving and snow in the winter?

My son had KOs on a full size Chevy, great tire in mud/off-road, decent manners on the road; but they weren't any good on ice and plowed snow. They did well in deep snow. I'm comparing them to a dedicated Winter tire (Hankook studded or Blizzaks), so that may be an unfair comparison. How much and how frequent snow are you talking?

I am changing out my OEM tires today, 70k miles on them. They wore great but I did not like them in rain or snow.

rugged trails suck ass for many reasons

    suck in rain
    suck in snow
sidewalls are extremely weak and the slightest nudge on a rock will peel them like an apple

on clean, dry pavement they are OK

On my 2008 they were horrible in rain and snow and then the tread split apart at about 5,000 Miles. I am buying a 2015 and am having the Rugged Fails removed before I take delivery, the dealer is giving me $800 for all 5 as trade towards the Yokohamas.

I ran them on my 2009 Prerunner for almost 60k. They were an ok street tire and actually not bad in the rocks and cactus at the deer lease. I say not bad because I never had a flat. One of the main reasons that I bought the Baja was for the tires. I would have either swapped the OEMs for the Duratracs I had on the 2009 or gone straight to Discount. Either way I figured it was going to cost me about $500. I just figured I would put the $500 towards the Baja.

They came on my 2014 and I used them 15k miles, including last hunting season. I didn't have any issues with them and they performed pretty well during moderate off-roading. I swapped them out for BFG AT KO2s (265/75s) and I'm really liking them after 5k miles. I've put the new tires to the test (creek beds, creek banks, steep hilles, etc) and I was pretty impressed with them.
