Lol I need that pipe you’re smoking on has to be good stuff. The 2TR is a dog but an extremely dependable one at that.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.

I’ve had 2 Tacomas. 05’ 2.7 MT 4x4 ACLB and had 200k miles on it with no problems (clutch was done around 180k). Was the truck pretty slow? Yup. Was the gas mileage great? Not really. But I still loved the truck. So much so that I recently bought a ‘21 2.7 MT 4x4 ACLB. Power feels the same between them but I am getting slightly better MPG now (just short of 24). The only real complaint I have about it is when it comes to climbing the mountains in AZ. Last week, me and a buddy (who owns a 3.5 DCSB 4x4) went camping and the performance difference on the highway was clear. There’s a couple sections with a few miles of 7% grade and I was struggling. Pushing close to 5000rmp in second gear at times just trying to keep up with traffic on the climbs (it stayed in 3rd for most of the time). I have no real mods besides a topper and maybe had 300lbs of stuff in the truck. With that being said, it still did it and wasn’t unbearably slow. I just ended up being 5 minutes behind my buddy in the v6, lol. Overall, still really happy with the truck and think the price, reliability, and slightly better mpg is worth the compromise of less power. I just never plan on towing, lifting it, or adding much bigger tires.

Good advice, thanks. I found both a v6 and a 2.7L and will be test driving them side by side next week.

I miss v6 power at elevation, but my 2.7L with lift and camping gear has been taking me everywhere I need to go in last 4 years. It has power just doesn’t have enough power to get up to 70mph fast up steep hill, it’s kind of like old diesel land cruiser. Otherwise rev it and it scoots.

When I bought my 2022 TRDOR DCSB I thought I needed the V6 for potential towing and a bigger back seat. Don't get me wrong I love the truck but I could've been very happy with the 2.7 4x4 with the SX package.. Only towed 1x and I think 2 or 3 times had a 3rd passanger. No regrets just saying.
