    Standard 1st gen 5100's are 3 my Tundra 5100's are 5, pretty sure for 2nd gens its 3 as well, could be wrong tho'...

    Not very.
    The roughest terrain I've been on is a dirt road down the road from me, the road surface is like a washboard, and you can't exceed ~30 MPH or the back end starts to wander around on you. (Doug knows which road I'm talking about)
    99.9% of my driving is from home to college and back.

    I've never heard of that happening.

    I know a member in TX broke the shock stem on his 5100's and the C clamp was still in place.

    I'm telling ya, it wouldn't be a major feat to run a well insulated 3" duct off your A/C, midway back of bed, use a 3"x1.5"x1.5" wye to split the conditioned air to the rear shocks with a insulated flexible sock/shell wrapped around the business end of where most the heat is generated, leaving it slightly open on top ('cause heat rises) to vent, you could literally mob like madmen all fucking day in as hot of heat as you could stand & I promise, zero dampening/shock fade due to heat...ever...could do it for less than $200, maybe $250 if ya got fancy about it...

    Wife rolled it 3x mod...
    When I first was looking into the 5100's I thought the same thing about that C clip holding the bottom plate in place... Weak link... Through thick and thin, I have never heard of that failing... Many other fails but not the clip.

    My best friend, BeeRadd with his old setup, 5100's all around. By no means was it a soft landing....a few months later, the driver side front snapped at the lower stem on the street.

    I don't hold Bilstein responsible for that, blame Toyota for a piss poor design for 2nd gens, that whole stem thing is so obviously a weak link & ugly as fuck too....


    EDIT: Bilstein only builds what Toyota Specs dictate, I'm pretty sure the first thing Bilstein corp. did was address the skinny ass tooth pick thats supposed to support a truck, Toyota probably told them to sign off on it making that design alllll toyotas. (bilstein was no doubt glad to do so)

    About that tungsten adjustment clip, as far as I know out of how many thousands of bilsteins out there with it ...zero failures
