How high does your dipstick read when you read it after parking overnight?

I am having a peculiar "issue" and seeking some input for peace of mind. This is for the V6 engine.

If I follow the proper directions:
    • Warm up truck to operating temp
    • On level ground
    • Shut off
    • Wait for 5 min
    • Take reading...
    My oil level is correct...

however first thing in the morning... when I check my oil it is like 1"+ higher than the upper mark no matter how many times I measure.

Can anyone chime in and let me know how your truck reads in the morning when standing for a while ?
I am not new to car ownership... probably had 30+ cars and I have never witnessed such weird oil dipstick behavior ... and I can't stand how hard it is to read either.

The added amount of oil has been sent up for lube. It is normal. If is low at cold. It is low

Normal, the entire engine will drain down. 2GR's have massive differences in levels if checked over time.

Just run it, check it after it settles and call it good.

Manual says 5 minutes not 10 hours.

Can’t attest to cold engine oil level, but check around here for dipstick scuffing posts for your legibility issues. I just used a scouring pad from the kitchen.
The tip of my stick was extremely jagged/sharp and it was tough to insert. After taping off and scuffing up the oil read area between the dots, I also sanded down and smoothed out the tip. Couldn’t be happier with the results

I have always done routine oil checks on a cold, level-ish engine. Ensures drainback has long been completed.

I check the trans warm. But I have a trans dipstick.

    Oil is on any vehicle.

Trans is my 2nd gen 2.7 and older vehicles. Even the 3rd gen 2.7 lost their dipsticks. :(

My ev doesn’t have oil. Thanks for that gem of input. That said I’m specifically asking about the 3.5 it seems to have notoriously difficult oil readings

Took delivery of my 2023 Silver SR5 V6 5' bed yesterday. Yippee!! Love it! After putting a whopping 40 miles on it I parked it on level ground and checked the oil. It was at the same level as in the OP's photo. I'm not a bit concerned about it since I'm used to seeing the same level on our RAV4 when I add a few extra ounces at oil change time.

Lightly scuffing the "oil area" of the dipstick with fine sand paper/Scotch-Brite/steel wool/etc makes it much easier to read.

No need to go crazy, just dull the surface down a bit is all that is needed.

I finally got around to checking my oil level the other day...it's still between the marks on the dipstick where it was last fall. This was checked cold first thing in the morning.

When it's hot it would read less...some of your oil hasn't completely drained down into the pan yet. If anything your overfilled by at least 1/2 qt.

According to the manual I am not… but I’m just not fully understanding why the dipstick situation in this truck is so over complicated
