How important is it to protect the exhaust crossover pipe?

I don't really do any rock crawling, but my biggest concern when cresting hills or going through rutted trails is dragging that awfully placed crossover pipe on the ground. Would you guys consider protecting that pipe to be a high priority when it comes to armor? Or is it tough enough to withstand being drug around a little bit?
