Have you guys also noticed a slight jolt/shake to the truck when the A/C compressor engages. I'm pretty sure it's normal but I just noticed when sitting in the truck messing with the A/C.

I have no idea what to think right now but have no choice but to monitor the situation.
    They cant duplicate the concern...........
& I agree, when I went to replicate it for the tech, it didnt do it..
All I can do is monitor at this point...

I showed them more areas of dirt specks in my paint.
One is on the very top edge above the door & everyone who inspected it are stating its large & high probability of blowing through if they try to color sand...
I dont want the door repainted, so were leaving it alone....

    I checked my owner's manual on p 444 Section 5-1 Using the air-conditioning system
    and defogger

It clearly states. " If A/C" switch is not pressed, the system will blow ambient
    temperature air or heated air."

Definitely not working as intended. Will report to service dept on first visit.

    Any updates Slater?

    I wouldn’t wait. Take it in…
I know it’s not urgent, but would be nice to find a solution…
Supposedly mine all of a sudden stopped doing it on its own. Would not act up when I dropped it off at the dealer.
as I witnessed it not acting up so I got no freaking idea what took place in regards to the issue resolving itself.
I picked the truck up today at 4 o’clock, going to take advantage of the free appetizers at the new car owner seminar…
Then I’ll park it in my garage as I always do and monitor the situation. I’m scratching my head right now as I didn’t make this shit up…

Picked up the truck from the service drive & before parking it in the lot in preperation for the new owners seminar where they gorged us with Mexican food.... I popped the hood & verified vehicle ac system wasnt acting-up as I described the fault.
I get home & start testing things again & its doing it....
I took a handful of videos at different temps.
Had an extensive conversation with the service manager at time of pickup & he was going to reach-out to his toyota FSE as he legitemetly felt I wasnt a crackhead & was fabricating the concern even though it wasnt acting up...

I wonder if this has something to do with the vehicle customization setting?
Figured you toggle that setting & atleast cycle the key once, it should take....
i had it toggled off at dealer but it was acting up for me at the toggle off setting.
toggling it back on may have set it off, but toggling it back off didnt change anything....
leaving car off & door closed for a bit & re-try didnt change anything...

Sucks to hear that they couldn't replicate it, hopefully since you have videos now it will help.

It hit 93 here this week, with 80-90% humidity. THI was like 100+. That will test the 2024.

IMG_4124.jpg So I had my ac checked-out twice & dealer is saying normal characteristic of vehicle, which may be the case....
But getting contradicting info here along with me jumping in / comparing an in-stock but didnt drive it...
The instock unit didnt blow cold in vent mode, nor did the ac compressor cycle & the engine cooling fan didnt run when I ran it on the lost for 3 minutes I check it out....

Its documented as such at the lat visit:
"the ac / climate control system is operating normally. Contacted FTS & confirmed the ac will run even if the ac button is not in the on position or if the defroster is also not in the on position.
The ac system will work to dehumidify the cab by running the ac even if the switch is not turned on"

I can only assume they know what im referring to.
My system isnt periodically turning the ac on....
The hi today was 76 degrees, I had the vents on, dial set at 66, defroster ac auto all off, blowing out the front registers at 46 degrees, cold air....
ac compressor cycling, engine cooling fan on, it was like that the ENTIRE time I drove the vehicle, about 1.5 hours, multiple stops....

This is disappointing. Guess I will continue to use rear window for ambient air
ventilation. Kind of too soon to tell but I think I am seeing a drop in mpg with
    A/C running.....boo!

    Its just very frustrating....
Meaning Plank is claiming his isnt running, amongst others I think...
Went of 5 am for a workout, set the air vent to 76 degrees as it was much cooler outside, ac on, eng fan on.....

Seems really odd the users preferences and settings are being ignored.

    To further mind-fk myself....
Like I stated, I went to dealer weeks ago when Plank mentioned his doesnt do it...
I confirmed few weeks back that the instock I checked, also didnt do it....
Checked 2 other in-stocks this morning, they both operate like mine....
    I cant check them all!!!!

I actually called Toyota corp & opened a case for that too, requesting an FST or an engineer to personally call me....
If this is truly normal, ok im fine with it, just being a tech & seeing contradicting info on this forum along with my own eyes, isnt sitting will with me...
    Its actually making me crazzzzy!

Have no idea if user preference is suppose to do what Plank is speculating.....
Not talking him down, were just fiddle fking trying to find solutions, I dont roll like that.
    I hate "experimenting"

Vehicle switches, knobs and the screen user interface should be intuitive. Your truck is not working properly in my opinion based on what you’ve said.

I would really like to know how many vehicles are affected by this. Are there only
a few of us that notice this, or are there only a few who care? Need to get some
high profile media exposure on this to grab Corporate's attention.

That’s the big issue. People with 2024 Tacoma’s that are reading. This are just rolling their eyes and not engaging…
I can’t 100% be certain that I in fact, I have a problem or if it truly is normal like the FTS and the service manager in my dealer states. But at first the service manager also agreed that the vehicle shouldn’t be acting the way it is and obviously I knew what I was talking about.
Scratching my head when the first in stock I checked, didn’t do what I’m describing, today the other two that I checked did exactly what I’m describing. I have no idea if there’s some sort of ambient temperature sensor that was seeing what it needed to keep the system off on the first one I checked… No idea!
Mine pretty much does it all the time except for the one time I first took it into the dealer…

I escalated my situation even further with corporate, I don’t sit on things…
Would really like to talk to a field service engineer, or whoever design the system, and hear it from him per my specifics, and what I am explaining, that this is perfectly normal…
Running your heater without air conditioning on, your AC compressor is supposed to cycle and your engine cooling fan is supposed to come on. The electric fan is coming on because the AC compressor is cycling, I know that is normal… But have no idea why the AC compressor needs to cycle when your heater is on…
