It's a truck, low-end torque is important offroad, pulling a trailer, hauling a heavy load. I welcome the low-end torque, pairs well with the 6MT. My AC works fine, it was 35C the other day, 42 C with humidex and the AC kept us cool.

The THI here yesterday was 115 F. It’s slightly cooler today so it’s only supposed to get to 113.

Yes, it is. We’re just getting started. Now you know why I asked owners in hot climates how the new gen is doing. It’s a pretty important feature around here.

I like some low end torque. With EV and turbo being more popular, are people asking for more torque? Are the manufactures following CAFE standards, and the torque is byproduct? Then they tell people that they want and like more low end torque?

What got me thinking about this. There is a Dodge Hornet commercial and it mentions the vehicle produces more low end torque.

Do some of these new trucks have the windshield humidity sensor thing / something that could trigger AC to come on outside of the climate control settings?

I was about to ask if the truck measured humidity and was running the AC to reach a target percentage regardless of the temp setting.

My Taco seems to be blowing cold air in the upper vents, when A/C off, fan off, setting to direct air to feet. I tried cycling all vent functions, even recycling inside air and it still occurs. Will be calling for an appointment to have dealer check.

Mine is doing the same -- blowing cold air with the a/c off. Checked the compressor and sure enough, on. Also increased the cab temp to 66, 67, 75 and all it did was cycle the compressor on/off on all settings. One more item to bring up with the dealer. The dealer is going to have an up hill battle since the owner's manual says otherwise.

One of the more serious side effects of this issue not mentioned in the thread: your compressor is not going to last as long as it would if it was not running all of the time. I have had vehicles with automatic climate control (some dual zone) and every one had a button or choice on the screen, usually a "snow flake" symbol, which allowed you to turn off just the a/c compressor. It would still be on "auto", just no A/C compressor assist. The rest of the system is completely active. I did this all of the time in the spring and fall when temps were cooler. One side affect of doing this in the warmer months would sometimes be a gradual increase of the fan speed as the system tries to hold the set temp. Auto fan speed and vent selection would still be completely active and adjust themselves as required including the the sun angle angle sensor. The electric cooling fan would not run constantly either.

Hope they figure this out for you guys! Running the compressor occasionally is good for the system...all or most of the time is not good for the wallet or the compressor.

Has anyone tried disconnecting the negative battery cable to see if the issue goes away or corrects itself? Might be worth a try.

Understand completely. Just some input that on trucks with this issue, the compressor never gets a rest, even when it may not need to be running and that's going to reduce its service life: Maybe substantially; and they are an expensive part to R&R. Mine doesn't run at temps below +- 40 degrees and never when the A/C button isn't lit up unless I select defrost or hi/low.

Is it just affecting the models with automatic climate control? I have Manuel version and mine doesn’t do this. Turn the a/c off and it stays off.

Hmm, you made me go out into the garage and look

It has the auto button, so I'm guessing yes. Never used it though, just set it on a temp and varied the fan speed myself.

Hmm that’s interesting . I’m sure Toyota will come out with a bulletin to fix this if it’s a issues
