extang trifecta tonneau, tinted windows, side step bars, sill plates, bug deflector, TRD exhaust, K&N filter, carbon fiber CD surround, tow kit, it's a Canadian truck so the TSB 4 leaf springs and bilstiens were done at the factory, vent visors, ipod adapter, and weather tech mats.
I put my snow tires on a few days ago, which do not have TPMS in them. The spare still does. My TPMS light has not come on, it should. The bulb works, the light comes on at start-up, but then shuts off. The tires have been on for three days and driven over 150 miles. I don't want to look at a yellow light for the next 4 months, but I'd like to know if the system is functioning or not as I still have warranty.

    update:

My TPMS finally noticed there are no sensors on my winter wheels. It only took about three weeks, and or 2500 miles for it to notice. Now that's responsive technology!

if it was malfunctioning, according to the manual, the light would be blinking for about 1 minute

Do you have your other rims/tires/sensors in storage nearby? If so you will not get a light.

Yea, if your sensors are still aired up in the old tires, unless you get a good distance away, the light will stay off.

I had mine in a small lawn mower tire just layin in the garage after getting new rims, and it wasn't until I was about 50 miles away from the tire the light stayed off, I don't know if it was time or distance, im guessing after about an hour of being out of range they go off, hence the 50 miles.

Have you been away from the tires with the sensors for more than 45 minutes at a time? From what I understand the system does a self check every 45 minutes or so, and after 45 minutes the light should come on. After returning home and parking within the sensors range the light should go off (if the pressures are all within around 4-6 psi of each other).

but then the light would stay on... I know, because almost everywhere I go that light is flashing/on because I got a full sized spare, and can't mount it under the truck so it's not in the truck anymore.

No the TPMS wheels are in storage for the winter at my cottage more than 30 miles from house. So that can't be it.

    Interesting.
I've always wondered about this and have discussed it in other threads here before.
For the last 4 yrs on both a tundra & now my tacoma, I've run two sets of rims/tires for Spring & Summer with only one set having the sensors.

If its solely time activated, wouldn't it be true that when parked say away from my house, saying skiing at a mountain 25 miles away for the day, it would be triggered once I return to the truck?

I get that must be a self check but not soley on time, but a combo. I do get some pretty good distance away from my sensors with no light illuminating whatsoever. Whatever the reason, its nice to be able to run two sets of seasonal rims/tires which is expensive enough without tpms.

I sometimes wonder if the tpms is all it's cracked up to be. It seems like some get the light and some don't when the sensors are removed. If your not getting the flashing light I'd consider yourself lucky. I just wonder if your system is working properly? When you had the sensors on did the light EVER flash???

My spare was missing for over two weeks before it came on. And when I say missing I mean stolen.

    yes
My winter set have the sensors since my truck originally came with the 16" steel rims. The spare has a sensor and last winter was low and trigger a light. Filled in up and the light shut off. Also this summer with my winter set w/ sensors in the back shed, the light triggered to tell me one of the tires in storage was low, now that was freaky.

Yes once when I punctured my sidewall, the light came on. I was off-road (light trail) and the light came on before I noticed the tire was even low. So it was working then, about 5 months ago now.

Update it has been 5 days, and over 300 miles of driving with no light on.

Mine takes exactly 20mins to come on, Mine resets if I leave my truck running in the driveway, then when I am 20min from home it comes on.
If I drive 15min then return home the light will not come on again for a new 20min from home.
Sometimes the lights stays off for weeks because I am only driving 15min trips everywhere, but once I drive for 20min its on till I return home so it can pick up the signal from the TPS in the garage,
I know my explanation was a little confusing.

Mine came on last nite with the stock rims and tpms but I did put diff tires on. My question is why it came on after several weeks of the new tires. It is bitter cold here and it sat out for about an hr and half while i was out to eat last nite and then it showed up and wont go off. I checked all the tires and they are fine looking as well as with the tire gauge. What gives. I cant stand these stupid lights. Every truck and suv Ive had with these lights they all show up and later go off but this one has been on since last nite. Its annoying

I put my new wheels on last Friday, without the TPMS and my light hasn't come on yet. The stock wheels are still aired up and have the TPMS in them, but I work about 20 miles from where they're at, with mountains in between so there's no line of sight.

Hopefully it will stay off so I don't have to worry about any mods to turn it off.

Those sensors don't broadcast LOS...They are WAY to under powered to do that. You've been lucky that the timing of the system checks hasn't caught you yet.

As I understand it the system will accept a few non-response checks before it'll light up your dash. So parking at home every night and starting there in the AM gets you a good read and you are set for the day....

I don't have my wheels where I park at night, in fact I haven't been anywhere near them since I put my wheels on.

So, yea I'm guessing the light will come on any day now, but enjoying it while I can!

And the sensors to have transmitters in them, that's how they get a signal to the vehicle.

Yeah...They do have transmitters. LOS usually means they have power to get to as far as you can see. They don't hardly have the power to broadcast across the parking lot.
