I run Mobil1 5-30 in our Town/country minivan and change the filter at 5k and add about 3/4 quart and do a full change 5k later. So, I guess you could say I change at every 10k interval. The van is an 06 with 118,000 miles and I have been running synthetic since 20k. We had an oil sample done at 95k and they said everything looked good. We will do another at 200k when we get there.

I run regular 10-30 havoline in the Tacoma and change every 5k and it has 178,000 on it. I recently bought the truck and would not even think of converting to synthetic now as the engine tolerences are far from sythetic specs now.

My father drives vehicles until the wheels basically fall off and he has used synthetic oils religously since AmsOil came out. He now uses Mobil1 due to the availability of it and buys it on special sales by the case. The last 4 vehicles he has owned all over 300k he changed filter and added at 5k and full change at 10k intervals.

I guess it is whatever you feel confident about doing as long as it is changed semi -regular.

    Just my 0.02 worth.

    thanks.
    Bill

I have changed it on my 98 every 5K since new with 5W30 or at times 10W30. The truck is now pushing 320K miles (granted mostly highway). If its burning any oil it's certainly not detectable. Hope to continue driving this truck for antother 300K.

I change mine every 3000. I run Mobil 1, but Im hard on it and in the dirt 5 times a week or more. I had some oil analysis done on my 2000 Tacoma, and @ 3000 miles there was still 8000 miles left on the oil. I guess I just change it for peice of mind and to have a good reason to get under my truck with a wrench. :D

i change mine every 6k miles and use mobil 10w30 with mobil 1 filter. i dont recdommend frams only because i have had bad luck with them. i had a 92 celica it had a 100k on it and i decided to use a fram filter one time because thats all they sold. it made the engine lose oil preasure. this also happened to a friend with a ranger.

Exactly. I always thought 3k was due to the filter life...not the oil life. I use Mobil 1 religiously, but have always changed it at 3k.

once i went 9000 without changing my oil (previous to the synth swap)

oil came out looking normal...very little discoloration

now i just kind of run for roughly 5K...once i hit that then it gets changed when i have the time and the money

I change mine every 3k religiously.

FYI - you can write/email/call Mobil1 and get decals and stickers for your vehicle... Just tell them that you use their products a lot... They will even send you the oil change reminder stickers for inside your front window. I use them when I do my own oil. :)
