How long did you have to wait for your 2021 factory order?

In Canada But here's my timeline for a DCSB OR Premium :

Placed Deposit- 1st week of may
Confirmed allotment- May 26
Truck Arrived- August 6.

 

I didn't need to put down a deposit and just made a verbal reservation for a TRD Pro, so I can't tell you the exact timeline regarding allocation and all that; though, this was a long process of trying to hunt down a few different trims before landing on the pro. Temp vin given 8/12 and expired today, built today, and will likely be at the dealership 9/5, barring the chaos at the port doesn't cause delays.

 

That does really suck. What trim and transmission were you getting? And what state was the dealer in?

 

My permanent VIN that was assigned yesterday is now working today. Fingers crossed, maybe this will actually happen.

I’m surprised that some people have gotten some very short turn around times on shipment, and my dealer is telling me it’ll be a month.

 

Yah, and it doesn't seem to matter if the truck is coming from Texas or Mexico. Mine was built today and will supposedly be here on the 5th, from Mexico.

I got confirmation last night that my order was NOT kicked back. My salesperson said “a ton” of orders were cancelled yesterday, Tacoma’s and other models included. Ive have a trd off road MT on order since early June. I have been told it will for sure be a 2022, but I’ve know that for a month or so now. That’s just what I’ve been told

 

That’s crazy, since we’re in the same sales region, and you weren’t trying to buy anything unusual. Sorry to hear that.

 

As i understand Toyota production cut is not applied to Tacoma and tundra. Tracks are their money cow. "the production pause isn’t affecting every model. Trucks continue to reign supreme, and the company plans to keep production going at its Texas factory that produces the Tacoma. I believe no affect on any Tacoma production.

Your salesman is lying to you.

 

They may not be changing anything in Texas, but Texas is not the only plant that produces Tacomas.

No seriously, you need to get in touch with the general manager at your dealership and find out what is happening with your order. I certainly would not just let things happen.

I wonder if us manual shift folks are waiting longer then auto folks because of demand! Would make sense.

 

They’re able to see both allocations, and reservation status’ across some regions. I found the off-road I was looking for through a dealer in VT, but found it outside of their region. Got phone numbers for the dealerships that had allocations without reservations, made a few calls, compared packages, and placed a deposit. Flying out to get it once it runs the port gauntlet.

 

It's interesting, I never saw my build coming through the 5 Toyota dealerships near me this entire year, and now there are going to be 4 of them in within 50 miles at the same time pretty soon. I just did an autotrader search, and there will be 4 off-road premium manuals in army green with extremely similar vins shipping in soon. All four of them are reserved of course including mine. But whew... so interesting to watch this tacoma production with a magnifying glass.
