Interesting because you have one of the longest delivery routes. I believe its rail to western Mexico, ship to to portland and rail to the midwest. I think anyways

Yeah I’m not too sure on the behind the scenes. Keeping my fingers crossed that it gets here when they say it will.

Just looked up my temporary vin on the Toyota website… it just gave a message in red lettering saying “sorry something went wrong, please try again later”

Sounds like your one step closer to sittin' in that driver's seat! Your temp VIN was a "week 33" one, built ~2-2.5 weeks after. Using yours as a gauge, mine should be built sometime around next Wednesday!

I figured I'd throw my info in here. I ordered a Tacoma TRD Off Road DCLB on 12 July 2021. TRD Premium Off-Road Package (Double Cab A/T) with options,
All-Weather Floor Liners, Bed Lighting Kit, Black Out Package, TRD Performance Exhaust System

Ill post when I take delivery. I am sure it will be a 2022.

Note, I did not call it a unicorn, the two sales guys I talked with did because of the TRD sport with a 6ft bed. It's not a common combination. Regardless it took 5 months. I'll never mention the "unicorn" term again after this post. It will be my work truck for mission work and disaster recovery when I retire; hopefully in a few years. I need it to carry my gear and my small pop-up trailer to live in.

It's strange how different regions have different combinations that prevail. In Ontario here, you only see sport with the long box and off roads are always short boxes. It you see something different, it's very, very rare.

I was told my first “order” was a “unicorn” by both the sales guys I was dealing with. I figure it would be a unicorn if it was white with a rainbow tail.

Thats awesome! I did the same thing. Had a 5 month wait myself, so I had some parts laying around as well by the time it arrived.

Hey, it sounds like you’re the unicorn being a good human and all. Just bust’n balls here. I was told the same thing with what I first tried to order. After reading others also calling their truck a “unicorn,” I figured it’s something sales guys were told to say at a sale conference to make us feel special.

Where was your truck built and where are you located? Getting a truck under 30 days is crazy fast right now.

I’m in Northern Illinois. Truck was built in San Antonio.

I had been looking for a Pro for a few months. Was even willing to fly out and drive it back. Every single one I found within 500 miles was reserved. Got bored one day and “built” one on Toyota’s site then sent the quote to my local dealer. They reached out soon after to let me know they had one allocated to them. Left work early after hanging up and hauled ass to drop off the deposit, lol.

Awesome! Sounds like they had one in the pipeline super similar to one that you wanted.

    Hi everybody, greetings from :canada:
I’ve also been lurking around this site for a while looking at some of your incredible builds and available options.

I left my deposit for a Voodoo Blue DCLB Sport Premium on June 15

Dealer called back the week later saying he couldn’t find blue but had a red available within a few weeks.
Negatory on red, so I gave him a second colour choice of Cement Gray. Waited another 2 weeks fo a callback.
This time he confirms Toyota Canada gave him an allocation but not in blue. Oh well, it’ll still look good with all the black out badges. As with many on here, expected delivery date is Sept. 15

No news since then, so I gave him a call yesterday. Delivery date is now Sept. 18-28.
I’m guessing that is really tentative considering all the factory and port options on my build.
For some reason I wasn’t able to get him to give me the temp vin. He said he’d call when he gets the perm vin.

Congrats to all who have received :taco:, good luck to those whose temp numbers stopped working , and like me, patience to those waiting for a factory build :playball:. I’ll let you all know when she comes in :bored:

Ordered mid June 21 and it showed up from factory mid July 21, I was more upset that I couldn’t just show up, buy it and drive away but all the trucks on the lot that just rolled off the truck were already sold. Guess I got pretty lucky after reading some of the waits that you guys have had or are having.
