Sounds like you are being honest with the new dealership about what you are doing.
There's no way I would have gone 8 weeks without hearing anything.

I don't think you are being a "bad person" at all.

Damn, sounds similar to my original dealer. I went to another dealer that had a similar truck to line scheduled to be built so I put a deposit in on it.

I ordered an Army Green TRD Sport DCLB on September 7th. The sales manager told me that it should be coming in on Octobert 2-12. I put 500$ deposit down. I kept asking them for information but they just say I will let you know when something change etc. I want to ask the Temp VIN, I feel like they're just getting annoyed now. Lmao I guess I'll wait till October 2nd and see what happens.

From what I understand about this process, if they can't provide you with a temporary VIN, they don't yet have an allocation.
If they don't have an allocation they have no idea when the truck might be built or delivered. I may be Oct 2nd. I may be Feb 2nd. No idea.

Some dealers are claiming that they are swapping allocations with other dealers. I know, historically, this was a thing that happened, not only with allocations, but with trucks in inventory. When I bought my 2014 the dealer in NH traded something for a truck from Vermont. I found some paperwork in the truck from the VT dealer to indicate as much.
According to my sales guy, this isn't happening today (but this could be a regional thing, or he could just be lying to me).

I wish you all the luck, but wouldn't hold my breath on getting a truck on Oct 2nd if I didn't already have a temporary VIN.

What a sight for sore eyes. My truck is on the dealer site finally with a nice “reserved” stamp across the picture. Finally starting to feel like it’s really going to happen! Can’t wait to bring it home.

Nice, badhand2! Placed a deposit on an ACOR here in Denver on August 17th. You're giving me hope I might get it by end of October.

Earl Stewart Toyota in Lake Park, FL, close to West Palm Beach, has 35 new 2021 Tacomas in stock. There are 4 Off Road TRD 4X4's and 1 TRD 4X4 Sport, all 4 doors, etc. Rest are mix of Access and SR-5's, etc.
I have purchased there in years past, no dealer fees, and they are not part of the SE Toyota network. It is a very old dealership, all modern now, but were one of the first dealers in south Florida to take on Toyotas.
Excellent to deal with. I did not see any markups over MSRP. Easy fly in to West Palm Beach airport. For you single guys, excellent for night life and beautiful women.

The latest as of 9/14: "Good news! It’s on the water now on the the way to San Francisco Scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Then we have to wait for a train in San Francisco to send it up here. Then they need to process it in Portland and then will ship to us." Any wagers on when it'll actually get to me?

You might be wondering why the interior on my Tacoma with 200 miles on it looks like this…. Had to take the Tacoma in already because of loud clunking suspension noise in the front.

Very interesting because I was told none of them come by boat unless its from japan. Rather all tacomas are on rail from Mexico to portland. Mine came from Baja via rail to portland, then pasco wa then back to portland. Then on truck from portland to Hermiston

Heard the same, but I can't argue with the shipping pictures sent by the inventory manager.

Tell the sales rep to send you a screen shot of dealer daily. It shows the last physical place the vehicle was.
