How long did you have to wait for your 2021 factory order?

Picked the truck up today

"Ordered June 5, got an allocation July 15ish, showed up at dealer on Sept 15, drove it home today

 

Congrats, I’ve been in this battle since may 1st… build date of 9/1, and still expecting delivery to Tacoma wa between oct 17-20th… apparently the transit from SoCal to wa state takes that much longer?

Stay strong you’re almost there. Mine ended up shipping in almost two weeks sooner than they anticipated. Sounds like you’ll be in that truck in no time!

 

I've sent a text, haven't heard back. But in the meantime Toyota has sent me another email, it's a purchase experience survey. So, if anyone wants kittens, I've had about a bazillion of them in the last 24 hours.

 

Finally got the call, my sales rep tells me Tuesdays are his day off so the truck "may have" gotten in yesterday but he only got the word 15-20 minutes ago. Whatever, I'm 4 hours away from having my toy. Stupid job and its stupid responsibilities!

 

My dude said the truck should be here today, but the website is still showing "in transit." Tell me to take an Ativan and chill, or teach me how to hunt the thing down.

 

Mine still says "In Transit" too, even though my sales rep has now called to tell me it's ready for pickup, and has texted photos. The change I did see on the dealer page was the dealer notes were changed to say "Recent Arrival" about a week ago, which is when I think it actually hit the lot (and they've been spending the last week doing add-ons I didn't particularly want and am going to have to pay for). If you have the permanent VIN you can try looking it up in the owner dashboard. I've heard mixed stories on whether the Date of First Use gets entered when the dealer gets the vehicle or when the end-user does, in my case the date of first use is when my dealer got it though.

Also if you have the permanent VIN and want to get really crazy you can download the Toyota app, add your vehicle to your garage, and start your Safety Connect subscription. This will go ahead and start your free one-year trial, so you might lose a few days if you don't pick up the truck today. When you start the subscription though it will show you how many miles the truck has on it. If it's got a few miles that's probably a good indicator that your dealer has it and is doing the test drive and add-ons.

I have gone full crazy with this experience. There's also a spreadsheet somewhere in this thread that tracks inventory (search the thread for "kissmygrits" and it should show up), but it doesn't necessarily have all the inventory. I think it pulls from the Toyota website's new inventory search. I haven't been able to figure out what shows up in the inventory and what doesn't. Mine was there with its temporary VIN when I signed to buy in in late-August, and for maybe a day or two after it got its permanent VIN, and then disappeared.

 

Yah, that thing hasn't been accurate for my dealership. I'm really only obsessing because my current vehicle has been dying since June, which is when I started this process!

 

I feel you. We had been planning to put off a new vehicle purchase until the chip shortage got better, but then our 4-year-old vehicle decided to get completely borked so we sold it back to its original dealer and have been sharing one car for the past month. I feel like I could be a lot more chill if every day wasn't a 3-ring-circus juggling show.

 

Where are you looking up the temporary vin's ?

 

Getting closer here. Just received my Trucks VIN today, along with a screenshot from dealer inventory website showing that truck has a status of "Allocated, Truck Shipment" Delivery date pushed out 2-3 weeks though. ETA 11/8-11/15.

If it does show up within this date range it will be 90 days from time of deposit to delivery for me.

Im just stoked to see a VIN and ETA from Toyota. Might actually be getting a truck, lol.

Reading through this thread has been a bit dangerous and started sending my over active imagination wandering.......

 

Your salesperson should be able to give it to you if they have an actual allocation.
They get a "build sheet" that has the temp VIN in it. Eventually the VIN quits working in the Toyota VIN lookup page, at which point they should be able to provide you with your real VIN.

I asked my salesman today and he said they don't have a vin yet. He said the date got moved to the last week of Oct. I asked what my truck showed and he said in process. I don't know if he's bsing me or if it's different in canada. I'll text him again tomorrow

I was able to get https://drive.google.com/file/d/17KRMjxzopwf0TjHaRJKi3YXVxO_o_YVE/view?usp=sharing weeks before mine was built, and when the VIN was entered into the VIN checker at https://www.toyota.com/owners/my-vehicle/vehicle-specification it showed up like a real vehicle. A few weeks later that quit working and I had to ask for a new "final" VIN. I got a similar sheet with a different VIN.

 

well my day to sign off this thread got here! reserved an allocated trd offroad dcsb mt on 8/2, truck was built 8/19, delivered to dealer 9/21 and picked up 9/22!
