Interesting, my sister went through that same experience at that dealer when she was buying her 4runner. Needless to say, Metro Toyota has been absolutely great to deal with, and I can't wait until my taco comes in.

The wait is over! Not the actual truck I had a deposit in on, but I had inquired about this one at the original dealer I placed an order at. It’s got a couple more options and was actually slightly cheaper from this dealer than the other. They emailed me about this truck today at 4:15 or so, went to go check it out and just took it home.

Congrats! I had originally ordered an Army green off road in July. But found a Sport 4x4 premium that had been ordered by a different dealer in July. Should be in in a couple of days!

Well good luck to you sir. I had originally ordered an army green trd sport on 5/1, but was told Toyota wasn’t making them in that configuration with a manual trans. Either way, I get to drive it to work today and then it’s going to sit in our shop all week because I drive a work truck during the week… it going to be torture.

Laid down a $1000 deposit on an allocation at my local dealership. 2021 AG TRD OR DCSB. Supposed to be built in early Oct. with delivery at the end of October. I've only been waiting two days and I'm already going nuts in anticipation. Hats off to you all that wait for months. I don't think I could wait that long, lol!

I had no intention of selling my 2017 sport, but in mid July someone made me a handsome offer that made me think. So I went to the dealer and asked how long it would be to get a new one with pretty much the exact same specs as my 2017. The salesman said end of August, I put down a deposit and sold my truck. Early August the salesman sent a message giving me the option of getting an almost exact match of what I wanted (dealership traded for this) within a week or wait until the end of August/early September for one that they ordered for me. It's only a few weeks difference so I decided to wait for the one they ordered.

First week of September and still no word, so I go to the dealership, they scramble around, and a salesman says, "they're building it tomorrow." Haha, yeah right.

Two weeks later and I get a message saying it will be there October 4th. I'm not holding my breath. I check the Toyota website inventory as well as the dealer inventory every day and still don't see a match, so I'm not real confident in October 4th. Meanwhile I'm driving a beater, my garage is piling up with accessories, I'm dating a virgin, I'm in this contest - somethings gotta give!

I put down a deposit with the dealer I selected on August 22nd. They were upfront and transparent that I was in for a long wait (they didn’t have any allocations available for the setup that I was looking for) and I am still waiting to even secure an allocation / get a temp VIN / build.

Since I don’t have an urgent need for a vehicle, and that they weren’t doing any market adjustment markups, I felt comfortable enough to settle in for a long wait.

I am looking forward to “officially” joining Tacoma World once I actually have a new Tacoma. :p

Not sure if anyone is looking for a trd OR 6mt army green anywhere close to western Washington, but I still have a deposit down on one that should be here in a couple weeks. I’ve got to call them at some point and see if they’ll be generous enough to give me my deposit back.

Meh, I actually saved about $3000 from buying through another dealer. So yeah technically if I don’t get the deposit back I’ll will have only saved $2500. It seemed like a win win to me.

One would think that you should be able to get it back. I hope you do. It’s not like they won’t be able to sell that other vehicle. But what do I know? Dealers are doing crazy, ruthless these days. Got my fingers crossed for you

I haven't personally heard of people not returning deposits, but that doesn't mean it won't happen.

is it the one in Bellingham? I almost put down a deposit on that one but I could t stomach the mark up and their overall attitude…like dude it’s a Toyota not a Ferrari. I found one in Eastern WA at a discount

Ya, I wouldn't believe a single word coming out of a salesperson. I'd rather see a paper. Anyway, same thing happened to me ordered the truck first of week of September, they said that it would be here first week of October. A couple weeks after they told me that it got pushed back to first of November.

Does it happen to be a double cab? If so, that's exactly what I ordered two weeks ago and expect to wait many months for. What dealer, and was there a markup? Maybe I can get it shipped to Utah somehow...

It’s en route to Larson Toyota in Tacoma wa. DCSB trd OR 6mt in army green, tech package w/o 360 Birdseye view premium package with black leather. They had a $5k markup that included ceramic coating for the exterior paint, interior leather treatment, front window tinting, and wheel locks (including spare)
