How long did you have to wait for your 2021 factory order?

Ordered my Pro 1/24 and was told up to 4 months..... few days later was told they traded a truck they had coming in to be able to get mine sooner. It was built 2/15 and shipped 2/19 was told 3-4 weeks but would have a closer estimate by the end of this week. Happy to get it but thought id have more time to put together a bigger down payment.

 

Ordered a 2021 Tacoma 4x4 Double Cab SR5 (longbox) on January 4, 2021. I received confirmation on February 9, 2021 that the truck had been ordered and it should be here in Ontario, Canada in early April.
I talked to the Sales Manager today (February 22) and it is being built in Texas, not Mexico and the updated ETA is April 22.

 

I was told 5 months for the one I wanted. There were no trucks like I wanted in the area. None of the dealers would help me find on at another location/zone. It sounds like they have 500 mile radius of info. After that, they claimed they no nothing. I didnt get any help with the <500 mile. The local dealers were VERY unhelpful. Really torqued me off... I started calling dealers >500 miles where I thought there would be a better chance for the truck I wanted. I got ahold of Grants Pass Toyota in OR. They found one in route for me. Took my deposit and about 10 days later I flew up to get it. Dealers around me were wanting a premium over MSRP to order me a truck. Grants Pass gave me a decent discount off the MSRP and were great to deal with.

 

So I finally went to the dealership in person. There was only 10 manual transmission trucks being built for Canada for months. And none of them were the voodoo blue color or access cab. I've already waited 6months, they offered me a double cab in army green with the premium package MT basically at cost. I decided to take the deal, because I could be waiting upwards of a year to even get a voodoo blue access cab. I'm pretty happy with how things turned out.

Got a build date for my '21 PRO - 3/22!

 

Ordered a dcsb TRD offroad premium in cement grey Nov 27. Took delivery Feb 27.

 

Ordered in late October, just got the info that they built my '21 Army Green AC 6MT 3 days ago. VIN number exists and was checked on the toyota VIN website, and it's my truck with the exact options I wanted. Super pumped. Delivery should be the week of April 5th-April 12th.

 

Update: Arrived 2/19 so let’s call it 4 months. One section of it’s travel was by rail from Mexico. The glovebox had a report from the shipping company showing that someone pilfered the keys and battery out of it on the train. I guess there was some delay for replacement parts.

 

I ordered a fully stock 2021 trd sport, and it took about a month for them to get a X Series 2021 trd sport lol they wanted to upsell me, but i told them i would only pay for the upgrades i wanted, at the price i would have spent for the aftermarket gear. weather actually pushed the date back a week or two

 

Ordered Lunar Rock Pro MT on 12/17. Got build date today - 4/15. So, by the time I get the rig it will be almost 6 months. Can’t wait!!!

 

What is an "X Series" , some kind of regional or dealer package?

It's mostly a cosmetic upgrade, but i'm not sure where dirt gets done. Probably a post-factory stop, either dealership or something in between.

 

So the only thing that isn't available on the Toyota build site is the "XP" badge??

 

Exactly lol I told them I wasn’t paying for badges or black exhaust tips and only paid for the tires and running boards

My 2014 Tacoma Special Order #1; Less than 90 days from deposit to delivery from Mountain States Toyota.
My 2016 Tacoma Special Order #2; Less than 60 days from deposit to delivery from Camelback Toyota.
My 2020 Tacoma Special Order #3; Less than 45 days from deposit to delivery from Mountain States Toyota.

Someone on here earlier posted that once the salesman takes your deposit, he/she wants the order on time as much as you do and it's so true. The sooner your order is delivered, the sooner the salesperson gets that added to their paycheck. Yes I know there is no "test driving" or "kicking the tires" routine but the system works and you're covered by all the warranties should something go wrong with your new pickup truck. I got everything I wanted in all my builds. It's a win win for all parties.

 

"Ordered" 5/29/20. Received 11/4/20.

 

Update: was told delivery will be mid to end of april, not sure why an extra month but It is what it is.
