That's terrible - I wouldn't accept anything less than what you originally ordered.

Similar situation for me - my dealership provided me with a build sheet (weeks after requesting it numerous times) that left off almost half of the options I requested. Finally they agreed to "try to accommodate my requests"... I can't get an answer from them on if it went through or not. This dealership has been a major pain to deal with from the beginning.

I hope your situation gets straightened out!

I've been trying to hook up with a ORAC allocation in AG for 2 months, andafter 5 allocation drop cycles and a couple different dealers still haven't had one 'found' to be available/accepted. Honestly seems like dealers could care less, perhaps knowing they'll sell whatever they get, idk. I found one in transit to a dealer about 100 miles away, wanted to make a deposit to lock it upeven though configured a bit different than my target, and I can't get a return call from them despite it not being 'spoken for' - plus they want a $2500 nonrefundable deposit on a truck sight unseen (deposit is applicable to other vehicle from same dealer - but that doesn't help much if they don't have what you want)...... Many of the 'kids' doing internet sales appear clueless about their own process. Quite frustrating, but I'll try to use not spending 40K to soothe my disappointment - its not sexy, but my '09 Canyon still runs ok, and I can see over the hood on crests - its actually a bit smaller than 3rd gens with more conventional (boring) lines - I'll keep telling myself that anyway, over and over :(... best of luck to all you 3rd gen hunters - I feel your pain, and congrats to those who have found their dream truck. little advice though - dont start spending on mod hardwareuntil you have a build date :)

I talked to the dealer yesterday and they stated that mine was put in the system and i have to wait until Toyota accepts the order (whatever that means) the sales person mentioned that there is a probability that the factory could reject the order but its unlikely anyone experienced this? don't mind to wait longer as long as i get the truck i want i just don't understand how the process works.

Sold my 2nd Gen for 76% from msrp after 10 years driving and 160,000km, no joke I think I could have 90-100% back. Truck sold in 2 days. Been waiting since mid Feb for my 2021. Tried to switch colors on my dealer from cement to black but thst would push me from a mid April to late may delivery. So "stuck" with cement. I'll survive lol.

Wheels are here so no turning back. The black truck would have got bronze. These are going on a 2021 trd sport premium double cab long box. Access cab to a limo. It's the girlfriends fault lol

i think it depends on how far you are from the factory, we had an allocation locked in on Feb 1st, built this week and should be in Northern California early next week, in freight now.. was expecting at least two weeks for delivery from build week from what other posts have indicated..

Unfortunately, I think the more pressing question is when will these projected April builds actually happen if the factory does temporarily shut down or cut shifts. I’ll be curious to see if people with an end of March/early April build date get any updates.

Blackout package - planned: black bed logos, black wheel vinyls, front seat window tint, tires.
My dates followed yours exactly to the day, except I picked mine up last Friday. It seems they should have been on the same train...mine did have a few items added at the "port", as they say.

well quick update. no dealers in my area were willing to come off MSRP. ended up emailing the sales manager of the dealer that messed up my order. ended up upgrading from cloth to full premium package with tech for less than the cloth package and a hefty discount + what I wanted for my trade. so new build has been submitted as of this morning. here’s to starting the entire process over again (my first build was submitted jan 1st)

Glad to hear they are taking care of you. Make sure to get that spec sheet once they locate one from allocation! Good luck bro.

Here is something I don't get with Toyota.

Clearly certain trims are in big demand and others are not. Why not make more of the trims that are in bigger demand and less of other trims?

Don't get me wrong, I like the fact that resales for Pro manuals are loco, but from a corporate profitability POV, why not build more and make moar $$$?

long post - just hoping to help others avoid my mistakes ..

So, after 2 months and countless hours spent trying to hook-up with an ORAC allocation in Army Green, here is what my experience suggests,
    1) go to the highest volume dealers within range. I wasted 5 weeks at a likable but low volume dealer, after 3 allocation drop cycles and no near match I tried another bigger dealer who assured me they’d have no trouble getting an allocation. 2 allocation drop cycles and no match later, I expanded search. Finally got hooked up at very high volume dealer. Surf the dealer web sites – dealers with 100 Tacomas in stock have a better chance of getting (or already having) what you want in an allocation than a dealer with 5 Tacomas.

    2) Talk to the right people. Most folks who answer phones or respond to internet inquiries are basically Toyota’s version of Walmart greeters – unlikely to have detailed knowledge of either your truck or the allocation process. If possible talk to fleet manager or at least sales management - I know getting acces can be difficult.

    3) I’ve noticed dealers vary significantly in how they enable access to dealer daily and regional supply data amongst their employees. Some dealer fleet managers appear to cling tightly to system access (knowledge is power?), others share more widely amongst sales team – wider access obviously better for buyers..

    4) I’ve had sales folks tell me they had allocations for ORACs in Army Green, only to later learn that this statement had been made based on assumptions that one of their allocations could be modified – be careful with that assumption as ‘factory’ must accept those changes and build dates could change, significantly. It can be and is frequently done but dealer cannot gaurantee it. However if you can deposit on an allocation with a pre-production VIN, estimated build date and spec sheet that matches your target build, your good. I’d be suspicious of any claimed allocations without an associated pre-production VIN. Dealers saying they’ll submit a request for an allocation to your build specs means essentially nothing in my experience.

    5) Level of effort in finding allocations for your target build varies wildly between dealers – some do not much more than wait and hope they’ll get an allocation that will be ‘good enough’ for you, others aggressively seek swaps, search for alterable allocations in pipeline, etc... (letting them know you are asking multiple dealers may help here)

    6) be as flexible as you can on build requirements, Many upgrades can be done DIY of after-market after a sale (bed lights, remote tailgate lock, etc.. ) The more hard requirements for your build the lower the probability of a timely match. I passed on tech package in my truck to lock up an allocation – figured I’ve driven for 45 years without BSMs, RCTA, or parking sonar – I can go another 20 – plus that’ll pay for my sliders. And don’t start stocking up on mod hardware until you have a hard allocation in pipeline as described above. I was about to give up on my search and had already spent some money, which would have required lots of posts to the sale/trade forum.
Good luck on your searches and congrats to those who have anew truck at home.

Negative. Chassis was laid November 4, 2020. I picked it up from the dealership November 18. We were expecting beginning December originally. I committed to the deal in October.
