How long did you have to wait for your 2021 factory order?

Ah interesting! So sounds like Toyota production is going to start slowing everywhere except the San Antonio, Texas plant? (Happens to be where my truck is going to be made)

 

Since my tacoma became a fart in the wind I decided id try going to a 4runner, which would be an easier find as i’d be willing to take a 4runner automatic if I have to.Well I messaged all dealers within 200 miles and everyone who has allocations available is in the higher trims that I can’t afford.. one has an allocation for a basic 4x4 sr5 but its white and they said I can’t change the color.. and toyota doesnt know how to make a long lasting white paint job work. Guess im gonna have to push my old tahoe for another 6 months to a year and weather the storm.. fact is im looking at around 44 otd for the most basic 4runner 4x4 with no or limited options.. 44 should at least buy me an off road with options.. oh well, I tried

 

Keith 12. I purchased the 2021 TRD OR-4X4-from Fox Toyota in Clinton, TN. I had purchased two new Toyotas from another dealer, more local to us, except the sales rep had a 'don't care', attitude when discussing this order.
From build to dealer, 3 weeks. Posted the purchase schedule above.

Lol, i meant if I had to take an auto id take a runner.. wouldnt drive an auto taco!

 

Haha gotcha. A little odd they dropped a driveline option mid generation

 

I'm from Powell, so I bought my very first car from Fox...it was a used Camry!

I'm down in Huntsville, AL, now, but the dealership up in Cleveland, TN, has been amazing to work with. I'll probably go out of my way to buy from them in the future.

 

don't know if this would count as a "factory order"...

I reserved an "incoming" 21 OR DC with MT on 8/2 and got the temp
VIN on 8/3 and was also told it was scheduled for August delivery
latest early September

owner's website section for vehicles specs showed it was ordered in
July but yesterday it started showing a "sorry something went wrong
try again later " message instead of the "enter a valid VIN" message.

contacted the dealer and was told the truck is built but the shipping
got delayed to mid/late September

the temp vin "week number" was 32 so if it was built during this week
(34) I guess it makes sense for delivery to also be pushed off from
original estimate

I asked the dealer for the permanent VIN but didn't get an answer
(all communication has been done through text messages except for
a few calls at first)

for those with more experience... how long after the temp VIN stopped
working did you get the permanent VIN? trying to see if I should call or give the sales guy more time to answer via text

 

I got my permanent VIN the same day that my temp VIN stopped working. The permanent VIN still isn't working on the website, but I have it.

when the temp vin stops working what message do you guys get?! enter a vaid vin? or something went wrong try later?!?! lol

 

I don't know if the Tacoma or 4 Runner is a "want" or a "need", but if you are going to spend all the money it costs to buy one, don't settle. Get what you want. It may take time- trust me, I understand how frustrating it is. But at least you'll have what you want instead of looking at someone else's after you buy it and wishing you had gotten that instead...

It says that in red underneath the box where you enter the VIN.

 

my temp vin gives me this "Sorry something went wrong. Try again later"

 

I wonder if the next gen 4Runner will be built in the U.S. I can't recall what Toyota said about that.

 

'19 totaled in January. Deposit placed on Cement '21 DCSB Off-Road 1/20/21 with temporary VIN. Production VIN assigned 2/12/21. Hit dealership 2/17/21. Picked up 2/26.

 

Are you logged in to the Toyota Owners site when it gives you that error? My old Owners account was doing that do me when I tried to log in, and I had to have them reset the account.

 

nvm! just got the perm vin from the dealer and that one works.

I haven't even created an account yet... first toyota and don't want to jinx myself lol

 

I got a call from my salesman saying that my order was cancelled by Toyota. They ran out of chips. I guess l’ve now have the same order for a 2022. My original order was placed on April 24th. Who knows if my next truck will be a Toyota or not. This really sucks because it’s build date is next week.
