If the truck is allocated, the dealer should be able to provide you with a spec sheet (VSPEC) with the temp VIN for that build. At least in SoCal, dealers seem to be able to see others' allocations as well--so they could make a VSPEC for any truck in the pipeline, in principle.

In any case, ask for the VSPEC.

Correct. Once Toyota accepts the order then a temporary VIN will be assigned to that particular vehicle. The dealer will be given that temporary VIN # from Toyota. Once the vehicle is allocated then you can get the temporary VIN from your dealer. The temporary VIN will “disappear” once your vehicle is about to go into production or has already entered that phase. A permanent VIN will be assigned at that time. To follow your vehicle’s path from production to delivery at that point is at the mercy of your dealer’s communication with you.

Contacted probably 8 or so dealerships today looking for a MT TRDOR, and no luck. Got put on plenty of “list” for if they get an allocation.

I see you are in New Mexico. I'm in michigan and tried calling every toyota dealership I could find to allocate a MT. I started calling dealerships in Rhode Island as that state sells one of the top numbers of MT along with NM. Dealer called me an hour later and said they found a DCSB MT OR in lunar rock that a customer ordered but walked away!! Set to be delivered to them early November. Can't wait till I get out of my 05 MT shitbox. She's a sweetie but I can't afford something small to go out with 250k on the dash and not make it to work

Great for you! Lunar rock is an awesome color. I’m getting the exact same Tacoma, TRD OR lunar rock. I have to go to Montana to pick up mine. Scheduled originally to be built last week of September but put back and is supposed to be built this coming Wednesday 10/20/21. Figure that delay was to the cutbacks Toyota did in September. Sounds like yours is being built about the same time as mine. They build the MT in batches, I know that. What is your build day?

Checked in with dealer today, TRD OR premium exact 48000 cad doller. Only 600 increase from last year, not too bad.

My Taco OR is scheduled to be built this Wednesday. Original build day was 3 weeks ago. With Toyota cutting production 15% due to chip shortage for the month of November and a different dealer than I am buying from telling me that Toyota has been canceling their orders, I have a question. I assume the orders being canceled at that dealership are vehicles ordered but not allocated yet. I have a temporary VIN and does anyone know if a vehicle with a temporary VIN is in danger of being canceled or is it a safe bet to count on it remaining in the pipeline? Thanks.

Was looking for the same only found a sport with premium package and took it. Wait likely less than three weeks. Planned new suspension and hood swap anyways so made sense. I'll put in an ARB locker once I understand what needs done. I haven't seen a MT OR anywhere but have found a few MT sports. May be worth the look if you plan to lift and don't need a locker.

Good to hear you found one!

I’m still on the look out for a MT TRDOR. Planning on calling around some more this week. If anyone know any areas that get MT TRDOR more than other please let me know.

I'm not quite sure about a build date. But going through the toyota vin decoder the "first use date" is December 1st. And the order date was 08/21. I was told they could have it from November 10th till the 14th. I'm not religious by any means but I've been thanking the lord for how I ended up with this score to find one that quick

Was set to reserve an allocation for a white trd dcsb after not being able to find one in Lunar rock, salesperson called me back 5 min later stating that another customer had just walked away from a TRD OR dclb in lunar rock with no wait time! Perfect timing!

Look at your temporary VIN. Mine is ***********39A718. The 39 in front of the A tells what week of the year it is scheduled to be built. However, the salesman told me mine had been pushed back to be built day after tomorrow on 10/20/21. Most likely due to cutbacks by Toyota last month. Mine also has an order date of 08/21 and a first use date of December. Mine is also a Tacoma TRD OR Premium MT lunar rock. Sounds like they may be in the same batch. I also lucked out by calling around to different dealers and got lucky, this was allocated to them without a taker. It is exactly what I wanted.
Enter your temporary VIN in the site below:
    https://www.toyota.com/owners/my-vehicle/vehicle-specification
It will show your vehicle. Follow it daily and once the temporary VIN no longer works and your vehicle “disappears”, it is most likely about to enter production or has been built. At that point it has been assigned a permanent VIN and then the communication between you and your dealer will be the only way to follow it.
