I was looking to order a wind chill pearl 2022 DCSB Manual Trd sport premium and got dumb lucky with my local dealer having one 2 weeks out so I bought it before it landed. Just arrived in town today, getting the Toyota factory lift installed and some blackout accessories. Should be picking up by end of next week, will update once I drive it off the lot!

I was under the impression that the Tacomas for the East coast would come thru somewhere in the Gulf States (Texas, Louisiana Mississippi) and come by rail to the Northeast region to maybe Port Newark?
Interesting on how they do logistics.

The Toyota dealer I spoke with yesterday told me that "with the 40% reduction in production they are experiencing this year already, they are focusing on manufacturing popular configurations" .. I had asked about a manual PRO in lime.. He literally laughed in my face. Then said the one allocation they produced was IT! They will NOT be making more..

Now I call bullshit on that, but his point is valid. If they are 40% behind, they would be stupid to build stripped down lower accessories models... If they were smart they would stop building Sr sr5 sport and only build PRO and Offroad with that 60% remaining capacity

PRO is a $60k truck in Canada and a SR is $48k

I've got a PRO on order and even I know it's a vanity tag... No one needs a PRO

Toyota wants to sell lots of trucks, they'll make more money selling lots of SR's because idiots like me with disposable income are in short supply.

Do you think many people have an extra $12k that they'll just pay instead of getting a base model from another manufacturer?

Or as many have pointed out, what that $12K could do to the SR instead?

2/5/22: Dealer found my allocated Army Green Off-Road with TRD Premium Off-Road package, Advanced Tech package, LED Headlights, among a few other smaller upgrade features.

2/6/22: Went in and did a credit pull and put down $1k deposit. Was told the build is expected March and delivery April-May.

    More to come….

My sales guy had the 21 (pic) and it has me anxious, but I am a patient man. This will be both my first Tacoma as well as my first brand new vehicle purchase ever.

The local Toyota dealer here told me there is an extra $10k extra window sticker on the PRO right now due to short supply. So that is a $60k sticker U.S.. I said nah Ill stick with the upgraded Off-Road and do my own $10k in upgrades.

I picked up my truck yesterday and had some issues as predicted. They tried to hide a 2k market adjustment in the MSRP, denied me the 500$ military rebate when they insisted I finance through Toyota, and I got a 4.8% rate with an 830 credit score. They said I can refi after 6 months. LOL. I did get them to price back to MSRP in the end.

They're lying if they said you can refi in 6 months. There's nothing in the Toyota Financial contract I've seen that says there's a payoff penalty. They're telling you 6 months in the hopes you keep the loan long enough for them to get their kickback. I'd refi ASAP with a credit union or other bank.

Some dealers still sell at MSRP. Just gotta reach out to many to find one. My local dealerships (Albuquerque) have had 10k markups on the Pro even before pandemic.

You can refinance as soon as you get a loan account number. If you try to do it earlier then your paperwork can get all jacked up. My Wife works for Navy Federal and said this causes issues all the time when Members come in because the Title/Registration is all jacked up plus the bank or CU will need an account to payoff. YMMV because not every bank is the same, but talk to whoever you want to refinance with first.

There is not a pay off penalty with Toyota. The usual amount of time for most dealers to get their kickback is 90 days so if you want them to get it then wait 90 days, but if not then as soon as you get an account number refinance. Personally I feel like they are already making a good amount of profit off selling at MSRP so unless the dealer was exceptional then it is what it is. My dealer didn't even try to offer financing because they knew they could not beat 1.29.

    Great insight.

Reminder for myself as well as others, you can always refinance for a better rate down the road - make sure you are ok with the amount you borrow because you can't get that any lower once you've signed. Of the handful of dealerships I've talked to, a few are charging MSRP for the truck, but only one has been up front about mandatory dealer-installed options. I expect it from all dealerships at this point. Don't be afraid to walk if they won't remove them and make sure you discuss that once you have a truck allocated - not once it's already arrived at the dealership.
