Just lost my temp VIN..so after placing an order in July for a TRD Pro, my TRD OR is becoming more than a temp VIN...I'm not sure if it's actually sunk in that I'll have a truck after all this waiting. Seems like (while specific builds might still be difficult, like MTs/longbeds/Pros...at least there does seem to be a better flow of trucks coming in than there was in Jan.)

I had the same feeling when I got my real vin. Then I booked flights, insurance, did the loan stuff, can’t believe it’s actually happening. Lol

I put a deposit down for a 2022 TRD Pro MT on 15 June 2021, was just told it is on the rail and should be here by the end of Feb. I feel your pain on waiting for a truck, but since I'm in no hurry and was gone 90% of that time it is looking to work out in the end.

Good luck on getting your truck soon.

I'm just hoping that others (as it sounds like is happening) are seeing the same pattern...and if you're not, don't give up!

Just got an update from my salesman saying my truck is now fully built and has an arrival time to the dealership of March 8 through the 13th. Very exciting.

Week 12 of wait... still no word on allocation from my dealer. BUT a toyota inventory search produces two vehicles that come really close, both are just missing the advanced tech package, and one is the wrong color. I have not seen many TRD/ORs with the advanced tech package in the NorthEast .. hoping soon.

They predominately sell long beds in Canada. Everywhere I look it's TRD Sport DCLB. But yet I couldn't get an Off Road DCLB here. I'm sure Toyota could sell more units if they gave everyone more choices on both sides of the border.

So I’m guessing SR and SR5 easier to get? Seems like the long waits are for trims above those? Is it realistic for me to expect my SR5 in 3 months?

It all depends on what vehicles are allocated to your dealer. That is all that matters.

yeah, this whole system is pretty confusing. I’m used to going to my Ram dealer, ordering what I want, and having it show up in 90 days. This whole allocation thing and “no such thing as an order” makes little sense to me. I’ve read so many posts here at TW and I still don’t understand it. LOL!

What does it mean when you're able to "build" the configuration you want in your zip code?

I've noticed it's constantly changing, sometimes I can't build a Pro. Other times I can but with an AT. Last week I could build a 6MT but it was in black; I want white. Just now I was able to build a Pro 6MT in white which is exactly what I want. Does this mean, one is being allocated to my area?

Just because you can build on in the online builder doesn’t mean anything. Your dealer will get allocated what it gets period. Dealers can trade allocations between dealers if they want. Toyota builds what it wants and you can not order a new Toyota.

Then it's interesting how what's available to build is changing on their website.

    *Edit
Instead of building I searched the "inventory" and found what I wanted in my region. Called the sales guy I've been working with and he said it doesn't necessarily mean anything. It could be spoken for, or being built or a couple other reasons.

I need to get off this thread!

Right…it doesn’t make sense that you can “build one” when in fact that appears to be BS…”you get what we give you and you’ll like it.” “Building one” appears to be an illusion.

My truck was slated to be delivered between Feb 14th-18th and it landed yesterday (the 11th) so hold out hope things are still arriving slightly ahead of schedule. Hope this is the case for all of your trucks!!

I didn't have a special order, but on Jan 20th I contacted a dealer about a basic manual Off-Road they had on their website. I was told it just sold but they had an even less optioned 6MT OR coming in, so I jumped on it. Original arrival estimate was Feb. 22-28, then moved up to Feb. 11-16, then 10-15. Now they're saying "around the 15th." So hopefully I'll have it early next week; especially since I sold my '95 over a week ago and have had to rely on my wife to chauffeur me around. The order date, as far as I can tell, was December 1, 2021.
