Bit of a curious one here, not sure if anyone might have some insight as to what it all means but greatly appreciate any intel. In early January after calling all over the place, I was lucky to find a local-ish dealer with a TRD OR in MGM that was allocated and not spoken for. They are doing MSRP and made me an offer on my trade, contingent on not wrapping it around a tree. I put down a deposit and feel good about the deal.

Dealer provided a temp VIN and the build was set for week 5. Temp VIN stopped working on February 5, indicating that the truck had been built. I also got an email from my salesman saying it was built and awaiting shipping. Additionally, the truck now shows in inventory on the dealer site with a factory window sticker created on 2/4/22. I happened to need to email the salesperson about a possible car for my wife and asked if there was an update on shipping, he indicated there were no updates. After scouring this forum, I was able to pull the actual VIN from the website and grabbed the Toyota App and started the free trial to see any updates to mileage and tire pressure etc. The app has shown nothing at all. I also used the hacker trick to take a look at the hidden info on the dealer site. It shows the category as F, which I am lead to believe means freight. The status is listed as dealerhold. But I have no ETA listed at all. I did notice a few others in transit to my dealer that were built after mine and have ETA dates with the hacker trick. One was build less than a week ago and shows as having an ETA already. Does this mean I got pulled for QC for some reason? Is it possible that my truck got shipped, but has for some reason just not been given an ETA or not tracked? Not overly concerned, but like many on here, I am just very excited to get my truck. Any advice or insight is greatly appreciated.

Mine is a Week 6 build. Built on 2/11/22. Waiting for arrival. Temp VIN expired. Dealer gave me the actual VIN. Just waiting on delivery.

In the same boat as you. It might be that it arrived at an "auto ramp" or something like that where they stage them from rail and there just hasn't been a truck to deliver it. Seems like some dealers are savvy and know how to lookup the real status, others give vague non-answers.

IIRC, the head unit code is required to activate the control features, like remote start.

Picking mine up tonight. Informed the wife that I had Salesman order me a set of TRD Pro wheels last night at dinner table, 14 year old twin sons enjoyed the "conversation" lol.

My Toyota app on my phone still shows my temp VIN too. Should I call my dealership and see if they have a real VIN for my truck now?

Thank you tons! I swear the color is even better in person - what did you go for? My estimated delivery was 2/28-3/10 originally but I picked it up 2/24 so it came earlier than expected!!

I've been wondering about that; I've heard rumors the 2023 Tacoma will essentially be the new Gen 4 model with a turbocharged I4 engine instead of the V6. I am more or less okay with a turbo-four, assuming Toyota solves their electronic wastegate issues, however, if the Gen 4 model will be automatic transmission only, then I'm not even remotely interested.
