    The struggle is real.

So I am now really confused. after my temp VIN dropped off of the Toyota app last Sunday, I just now updated the Toyota app and then tried to re-add the temp VIN and this time it worked! I still can't add the temp VIN to my same account on the Toyota Owners website, though.:confused::confused::confused:

I basically sent an email and bcc'd all the SoCal toyota dealerships. Told them what I was looking for at MSRP and no dealer add ons. Eventually singled to the ole reliable Longo Toyota. Called the salesman and immediately placed my deposit. I met him on the day of delivery and did most of the paperwork online.

You need to ask your dealer for the real VIN.

"When we know it we'll send it" is what I got. Now my Temp VIN appears to be working on the Toyota app, again. I have no clue wtf is going on.

It took a few weeks for mine to have any pipeline updates at all. If I remember right, once it finally started moving it took another week before I had an ETA.

    Brand new.
This is what My dealership just told me about my Order, This is from the Sales Rep at Balise Toyota in West Springfield, Massachusetts.

There are two systems involved with selling vehicles: an inventory system and a system linked to our website.

The first is an inventory system with Toyota that shows all new Toyotas in various stages. The stages on the Toyota inventory system are first is allocation, second is in freight and the third is at the dealership. This is the most critical system with our customers as this is where vehicles are reserved with customer names. Your Tacoma in the inventory system is marked with your name and shows pre-sold.

Our website is our marketing/selling system and shows all our used and new inventory. On the new inventory it stays on the website until the customer does the paperwork and he/she takes delivery. If a customer inquires about a new vehicle on our website and it is showing pre-sold on our Toyota inventory system then we let them know it is pre-sold.

Hopefully the above gives you clarity about everything.

congrats on your truck. What package did you get for the audio, and how big of a difference did the kicker tweeters and speakers make?

2022 TRD off road coming soon

I'm sure that's right and I see it at some but not all of the dealerships in my area. One has more than a dozen Tacomas listed on the site--yeah, right.

BUT, I haven't been handed the keys yet, and every day the market adjustments get bigger and more widespread, so I do wonder what an unscrupulous dealer (if there is such a thing!) would do if someone offered them 5K more than I am paying...

I'm also not convinced that "waiting this out" is a good idea--the MSRPs we are dealing with now were set probably almost a year ago, before inflation really hit home, before the supply chain really went into a tailspin, and as far as I know they did not change MSRPs since the 2022s were introduced. The 2023s, however, are being priced as we speak...with chip shortages...supply chain issues...inflation on every component...etc. I think the difference between the MSRPs for the 2021s and the 2022s is only a few hundred dollars, but I'd be surprised if the difference between the 2022s and 2023s was not several thousands. In short, this may be the BEST time to buy.

I’m curious, would you mind telling the fee for the window tint for the front windows? Maybe I’m blind but I didn’t see it as an option on the configurator

Me neither. I messed up by not buying this time last year. Ended up spending some money on new floors. Anyways, with inflation increasing and the shortages not really getting better I started looking in December because it was clear to me that 2023 Tacomas were going to see a huge increase in price, like the Tundras. I know the Tundra is a refresh year but still, it's coming for the Tacoma - just wait.

If you have a buyers order with either the Temp or Regular Vin on it, your name, any deposit you put down, and how much is owed to complete the transaction (IE what you might finance) that Truck should be yours.
Now that’s not to say a dealer won’t TRY and do something underhanded. Unfortunately because of reputation, they all get put into the same basket as Lying backstabbing cheaters. I’m trying to use nice words.:rofl:

Given the slight upset in the economy recently (keeping politics out of this), I actually considered pulling my two "allocation deposits" from the dealers back to be refunded to me. Fuel just hit an average of $3.89 around here, and it's only a few days before that hits $4.00. I even saw Diesel at $4.89, I'm sure its already much higher than that in other parts of the country. I was already on the fence about waiting for the 23s , the next few weeks in the news may make the decision for me.

I would think hard before pulling my deposit. Locally at least the dealers around me are saying the lead times are getting longer, not shorter. The only thing worse then waiting this long for your new truck, is to have to start over again

My temp vin never got disabled on the app.
My VSpec link that was sent to me by the salesman did stop working though.
I got my permanent vin 2 days after the Vspec link stopped working [the day before projected delivery] which made it kind of a PITA to secure financing. Got a call at 4:30p.m. with the permanent vin and all the credit unions around me close at 5p.m. Barely made it before closing. Luckily, the truck didn't arrive last night so I have some breathing room for the credit union credit application to process.

    You got a VSPEC Link?

This thread earlier on had a link to this:
    https://guest.dealer.toyota.com/v-spec/______/detail

Where the space is your VIN, but my temp VIN never worked.
