The old ways of buying went out the window when supply chains got disrupted due to the pandemic. Both scenarios, being able to buy at or around Invoice and being asked to pay MSRP (or above), are dictated by the rule of "Supply and Demand". If you don't want to pay much above invoice, no problem, wait until there is a glut of vehicles on the market, which may be some number of years, and buy then.

Same here; I put a deposit down two weeks ago. From my perspective, I'm not at all sure I want a Gen4 Tacoma, so if production of the Gen3 ends this year, I'll be asking for my deposit back.

Yeah production has to turn over to 23s soon. He told me they stopped manufacturing blue ones. Im guessing slowly theyll stop everything and move over to gen 4 s

I've considered that possibility; if the switch over happens before a Tack built the way I want it gets shipped up here to New Hamster, then I'll play a waiting game until the early Gen4s have some miles on them. I really don't want to deal with things like my neighbor is doing with his new Tundra (he's having an electronic waste gate issue; the truck has been at the dealer more than here).

    Just a couple
Read an article in the Wall Street journal a couple of days ago. Apparently the same gas that they use for neon signs is produced almost exclusively in the Ukraine. Unfortunately that gas, is not being produced due to the war. That same gas is used extensively in the process of manufacturing microchips. The last thing I read was microchips won’t be back to normal manufacturing conditions until sometime in 2023. In summary, don’t expect this market to change anytime soon.

On a side note, I’ve got 2 buddies with new 21 and 22 Cummins. They are both having all kinds of weird issues with electronics. One of them told me after a month of having the truck they can’t figure out how to fix it. Something with the 4 wheel drive disengaging when hitting a rumble strip. Not cool, especially if you are pulling a load.

Have you all heard anything bad about new tacomas? I know Toyota is hesitant to bring anything to the market until they have the bugs worked out. Hope that is true as I am supposed to pick mine up in the next week or two

Agreed; good thing my 2006 Acura TL 6MT is still going strong; if necessary I could easily keep the old girl going for another one-hundred thousand miles or more. Said another way, I can afford to wait. :)

Can someone check this VIN for me and let me know what the status is? Put down a deposit 12/31 Lunar Rock Trail Edition 2022...tagged on an allocation listed in freight on 2/8. Supposed to be delivered 2/28, but dealer says it hasnt been released by Toyota yet and has no update. Seems like you all are better at getting info than the dealer is. Thanks!

(still trying to figure out how this forum works)

I checked to see if there was an ETA listed for it using the method someone else explained a few pages back. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be one listed yet.

My truck was supposed to be built 3/3. The temp vin page stopped working yesterday. Today I checked the dealers website and saw it listed with a permanent vin. No ETA listed on the permanent vin page yet, but at least it's been built. It appears to have been built in Baja, so probably will be a while still before it gets to the Midwest.

Got a call from my salesman today...on a SUNDAY. Repeat of what sales manager told me the other day...middle of next month delivery. Said no extra stuff piled on it, so still at MSRP unless some pre-delivery shenanigans are attempted. Put the deposit down on 1/23. I'm in NW Indiana, and the dealer is Team Toyota in Schererville. I was expecting a much longer wait considering I'm so far from the coasts. I was looking in Michigan too, and they seem to be running about the same in wait times. Fun to see the posts when one of you gets your truck!:D

thats strange! shouldve been there by now. my dealer was able to tell me to the exact day when my truck would be arriving at their dealership 2 months prior when i put the deposit down. and it arrived on that exact day. i dont know why some dealers can do this and some cant :notsure:
