Haven't been shopping lately. No idea if the trucks are on the ground, but the trucks I'm talking about show actual trucks, and are not computer generated.

I've been checking dealers in NW Indiana and as far north as Muskegon, MI and they show real trucks, but when I call they say they are either already sold, or are on the way. They show the VINs next to some of the listings at some of the dealers in Michigan. I absolutely will not shop anything in IL.

Gas prices will go down. They go up all the time when there is market instability. IE: War, Terrorist Attacks, Natural Disasters.
Let's be honest, we all know the Tacoma has high fuel consumption BEFORE we got into them.
We didn't buy them to save on gas. So that part is on us as the consumer.
As for the Tacoma value going down. Yes, it might decrease IF Toyota announces the 4th Gen. But as of rite now
they have not. It is more likely that this gen is around for another year. They just released the new Tundra and they are working out the kinks in that model with the "wastegate" reports and potential other "first model year" problems. Not to mention the rumor of the Crown coming to the US and the Corolla GR hatch
coming as well. I think new model intros are done for THIS year.

That would depend on how reliable the new gen would be. The new Tundra is not inspiring confidence with me. I would rather purchase a truck that runs on proven technology. The new gen may be the best one yet, but I wouldn’t want to gamble on a first year model

Trucks in general will fall off a cliff soon. Happened back in 08-09 . Bought a $37,000 sticker GMC Sierra 1500 for $24,000 brand new because Of it.

the car market is now in its peak stage, another year from now things will look vastly different. From everything I’ve read, manufacturers should be able to push out close to full capacity by the end of 2022/ early 2023.

the deals will start coming again, as people have less and less free money monthly to spend because gas is costing them a fortune. Salaries across the board haven’t gone up enough to justify paying MSRP for much longer. There’s way too many areas including gas/groceries/ pretty much cost of everything is eating away at free cash budgets.

If you have the time to wait, use it. The 2023 models (should be last 3rd gen Tacoma) will be sitting on lots in anticipation of the 4th gen which will certainly get 5-10+ better MPGs, that’s not a small amount with gas prices $4.50+ for the foreseeable future.

this already happens in Europe, and politics in America are getting very close to Western Europe. (Small cars with better gas mileage)

the Pres and Vice President talking about green stuff constantly. The higher fuel prices just gives them what they want sooner and puts pressure on people to be cautious about how much fuel they’re burning.

anybody who claims the market for trucks isn’t about to crash hasn’t paid attention for the last 30 years during high gas price markets.

Wife just got off the phone with the sales lady. Gave us the real vin. Put in v-spec. eta in developer tools matches the info sales lady told us. 4/7-4/12. If it all holds true, it will be just over 11 month wait. At least the wife will have the Pro she wanted.

Anyone experiencing inappropriate dealer behavior should report it to a Regional or Corporate office. GM published an article indicating any dealer uplifting MSRP on the C8 Corvettes would get a reduced allocation. They monitor how long the 'hot vehicles' sit on the lot. Knowing they turn around quickly, if they sit for a week or 10 days they know the dealer is taking on BS charges. Toyota likely handles their dealers in a similar manner. Corporate cares, the dealers are independent franchises, but...they depend on Corporate for inventory.

It seems like there are different pkgs up in Canada then in the US. Any idea how hard it would be to import a Tacoma either from Canada to the US or the US to Canada.

I didn't have to actually pay a deposit until there was a purchase agreement signed by myself and the dealership when the truck showed up on there incoming inventory. I was on a waiting list with them for 4 months before.

This is highly valuable insight, thank you! I am shopping for a new Taco, but in no rush at all, as I have transportation otherwise. I'm just not sure I can wait until the hybrid version - is that what you're referring to with the 5-10+ better mpg?

I want no part of a blown 4 cylinder Tacoma - at least for 4-5 years until all the issues are ironed out.

Mine has also been sitting in factory parking lot in Mexico for 2 weeks now. I entertained the idea of driving down there (21 hrs from Abq) and asking what the holdup is.

In the developer tools website for yours, does your "dealercategory" = A and "holdstatus" = dealerhold? Did your salesperson notify you that it was in port? Please post pics so I can leave eyeball tracks on your truck until mine comes in.
