Maybe if I ever get it.
"Ordered" and put deposit Nov 2nd/21 - AT Access Cab in white. Nothing special, just a stock build from the Toyota website. Was told it's about 2-3 months for delivery.

Nov 20, having read comments here, I asked about allocation, temp vin, etc. 6 days and a followup poke later, the sales guy says:

"We don't use temp vins. Once we get allocated your vehicle, if it's already built, we get the vin. If it's allocated to us and isn't built, then we get a ETA of the Production date. Once it's get built it gets a VIN and that gets forwarded to us. I will keep you posted".

Early January I poke him again. He says:

"I checked with my inventor coordinator to see what Toyota Canada has said about your vehicle. They do have a date. Its ETA is for the 1st week of April. But I will keep tabs on this. If it comes in March I will let you know ASAP". So I guess it was allocated sometime between late November and early January.

March 2nd, I poke him again. He says:

"According to the factory website, its status is "In Production". That could change at any moment. ETA is still April. When I have the printout that says "In Transit" I will let you know."

I poked him again Friday (March 11) to see if it's still in production, but no reply yet. Since it only takes a day or two to produce a truck, there must be some sort of delay? If it hasn't shipped yet, I'm guessing arrival (in Canada) anytime in April doesn't look good.

Between the Toyota system and the dealer not keeping me informed, I'm just about done and ready to buy another brand. It wouldn't be the truck I wanted, but it would be a truck I could actually drive. When delivery slipped from January to April, I put a deposit on the other truck and I could get keys tomorrow. If I don't hear from Toyota that the Taco is on the way in the next day or so, that's what I'll do.

Can't say I blame you, that's crazy. I don't think I could wait that long.

Good things comes to those that wait. Rather than spend $35k+ on something you don't want and are settling, you need to ask yourself if that is really worth it just to have it in your possession immediately. This is why some folks have numerous allocations with different dealers to see who can get it first.

I finally snagged one today. Using the Inventory Spreadsheet, I found a TRD Sport 4x4 with a manual in Magnetic Gray going to a dealer in Vegas. I called the dealer and they said that one was presold, but they had another one with a manual in White that was available, with a build date of 3/29. This one has the Advanced Tech without the Premium Package, which every dealer I contacted told me I'd never find. So I put my name on it today, and I get to plan a weekend trip to Vegas with the wife to get it once it shows up. I really wanted AG, but I'll live with White for that. Is there a White fan thread I can join when I get it?

That spreadsheet is worth its weight in gold.

In retrospect, that's what I should have done. It seemed wrong though, as putting deposits all over hells half acre would make it look like there's a lot of demand for what's really just one truck. That's how we end up with market adjustments on MSRP.

If I get confidence the dealer gives a crap about delivering what and when they said they would, I'll likely wait. If I get a sense they couldn't care less, I'm done.

Which truck are you seeking? Have you tried the spreadsheet and using the dealer code to determine the exact dealer?

For those waiting, heres how the timeline went for me. My truck was built in Guanajuato, Mexico. my dealer had the allocation and I put my deposit down the last week of January. My temp vin indicated a week 7 build, and my dealer confirmed it was built on 2/14. It was Shipped to the Newark toyota port via ship on 2/19. It arrived in port (Newark) on 2/28. Based on the app activity I think the port accessories were added 3/10. By 3/12 it was at my dealer. Hope this helps some folks figure out how much longer they have to wait. Brought my long bed home today!

Looks great man. I wasn't a big fan of white, but on the Tacoma it wears it well. I put my deposit down on Jan 26. Week 5 build, and Truck was built on 2/4. The App went live last Wed, and I have a ETA of 4/1-4/6. Not sure of it's location, dealer has not even contacted me. I've had to do
    all the calling.

Awesome!! So did you have any fuel or tire pressure before the port date? What do you mean by app activity?

I have to say my dealer was very good about dropping a line and giving me updates. Made the wait a little easier knowing where things stood. And for what it’s worth at least in my case at least the dealer had more updated information than the webpage we use.

a couple days after the truck was built it showed up on the app with 1 mile a little bit of gas and the tire pressure. I think it went up to 3miles right before it shipped out to port.
Once at port it gained a mile or two (assumed it was driving to a parking spot). It sat like that until it went up another mile or so (assumed that was the port install day). After that I didn’t see any changes until it arrived at my dealer.

i just went back and looked, i believe he was doing the same method as i was based on his response but its @LunarRockV . Freight would be like a train or a boat then i believe it changes to G for ground transport (car carrier). this, however, is just my observation on this forum and not based on any insider Toyota knowledge.
