    No kidding!
I had a valet drive my truck and he told me "this was the perfect size, why did Toyota make the Tacoma so much bigger?"
I just laughed that he could drive a stick shift!

During the last week of October my dealer let me know that my truck had been built and was in transit to the dealer. Unfortunately there was some miscommunication and the truck that had been allocated had the premium package with leather seats and sunroof, while I wanted cloth seats and no sunroof. It also had a lot of port add ons I had no interest in.

After a lot of hard thinking I decided to pass on the truck. I just couldn’t get myself to pay the extra ~3500 or so for options I really didn’t want. It would have been great to get the truck so early, but when paying this much for a vehicle I’d like to get something closer to what I really want.

He said it’d likely be 6-8 months before they can get me another, but I guess that gives me more time to add to my down payment.

They just wanted you to pay the extra. An extra 6-8 months? Ha! Time to find another dealer. Don't get bent over by this tool.

That's a gorgeous truck! You're the first person I've seen get the new shade of blue; how do you like it in person?

I love that blue! I know Toyota used to put color accents inside along the dash, notably I had seen a copper-orange color one a couple of years ago that had that same color along the plastic strip on the dash. I do not recall the model but I do not think it was a PRO (it was before I really had new Tacoma fever). Do they still do that? Is there a blue strip of plastic on the interior of the Sport?

I was in the same boat, I wanted an OR with the advanced tech package. After a week of nothing from the salesperson I called and said I was fine with just the normal SafetySense package. She told me that the full tech package was seemingly rare at the moment. Within an hour, she sent me a truck to consider... a premium OR but no advanced tech pack. Black was not my first choice but I said yes and reserved it. (First choice was "cement", but I guess any shade of silver would have been good). Over the weeks of waiting I questioned what I was doing... but in the end, I love the black color. Now I can spend time "blacking out" various features like the taillights, chrome accents, etc! Good luck!

Well I talked to the dealer today and sounds like I may have my truck by Saturday at the latest!

Soon to be back in the game! I had previously owned a 2010 DCSB OR - and last week put a deposit down on a dealer-ordered (September) Barcelona Red DCSB OR that's slated for build in about two weeks. Sounds like I should maybe expect to see it in late December/early January if all goes well. :fingerscrossed:

As an aside - I still waffle a bit over my choice of bed length, and for a moment yesterday I thought I had found the perfectly-spec'd DCLB, just arrived into another dealer's inventory... until the conversation revealed that their price would include both a secondary freight charge "freight costs more now" as well as a $9,995 "market adjustment" over MSRP. I'd say it's pretty obvious why they actually received an unsold truck! Their salesman seemed shocked when I told him I was taking a hard pass on paying $12K over sticker for their Tacoma, and opined that I would let him know when I changed my mind.

I sure hope he's not holding his breath waiting for my call. Even paying MSRP for a vehicle seems foreign to me, but I guess I should just be glad that not every dealer wants to engage in openly gouging folks?

When my salesperson laid out the no hassle MSRP sticker price deal and said they did not add any surcharges above that sticker price, I said, "good, because I would walk if you did...". She said, "Right? I know, I would too". I knew I was going to have fair deal from my local dealer with just that single exchange. (And I did.) It is ridiculous that any dealer thinks overages above sticker prices endears a customer to a longer term relationship, much less a short term good review on cars.com, edmonds, or google.

Agree. Look around the country, I did and found the vehicle I wanted without a “market adjustment”. One dealer I spoke with had the vehicle I was looking for and had a $10,000 “market adjustment” above mrsp. I laughed and hung up. He called back later and wanted to give me a “good deal, ONLY an $8,000 market adjustment”. Are people really paying these prices?

    Unfortunately, yes.

We all complain that the dealers are shitty for gouging but at the end of the day customers are signing off on those prices.

I wouldn't buy a box of cereal if I got to the cash and they were asking for 15% more than the price on the shelf....why are people overpaying thousands of dollars for a stupid truck?

Shoot me a PM. I found a different truck that better suits my needs. Still a MT taco:bananadance: and it's coming here to a Michigan dealer!!. Just makes sense for me. This lunar rock should be at the dealership in RI this week. Let's touch base before I pull my deposit off so you can get the green light

My dealer is being pretty cool about it. MSRP for the truck but cutting price of accessories such as the x series package, leather and trd lift.
