Depend on location... GST Gulf State Toyota buys all the vehicles from toyota and sells to dealer, theyre located in houston or galveston somewhere down there. So all trucks go through there. Mines coming from Baja and I was told the port for it going to missouri is through San Fran Or sacremento I believe they said. They then have to go on a train to the next yard. Train stops in kansas city then it is taken by truck to final location. Several stops along the way so oppertunity for several delays. I had my dealership put in a request for expedite or something like that so that when it lands in Kansas they know truck is sold and customer wants it ASAP. Now is that true or mean anything? Meh doubt it but I've been lucky in other ways and the day i wanted to give up looking for my specific build I found a few dealers with it.

I have a build date of 2/3/22 for an Army Green Limited. I received a vin (not a temp vin) from the salesman of 3TMGZ5AN3NM483516. I can’t find anything on the “Kiss my grits”. Maybe I am not using it correctly. Can anyone help. Thought the truck would be to the Midwest 6 weeks after build. I’m beginning to wonder if it was built.

No ETA yet, its going to TMNA like mine is too so maybe got pulled for inspection, mine was built a month after yours and my ETA is 3/29-4/4 but dealer said maybe 4/9. So I am literally waiting till the last moment to buy my one way ticket to pick it up. Hopefully it comes in and everything goes smoothly so I don't have to wait around and get a hotel. Plan on paying for it and driving it home same day as I am 650 miles from the dealership.

Oh and if you got a real vin and the info pops up on the app its built. Its my understanding the real vin only comes with final production.

Sorry I missed this but that guys an idiot lol. Tell him to send you an email with the window sticker. It should have the vin number listed on it if the truck is built. I swear some of these guys are just lazy. Or they are not used to having to deal with customers as much as they are, now that shit is taking months instead of a same day/few day process

Where'd you get that eta from, the vspec sheet in developer tools? Or is that what the dealer told you?

You are correct about the full vin once it's built. The new vin will have all numbers as the last 6 characters. All permanent vins have 6 numbers at the end and all temp vins have one letter in the last 6

I checked the kissmygrits site and my vin isn't on there but the vspec sheet says there's an eta of 3/28-4/2

My Tacoma was not on the "Kiss My Grits" and it is a real truck. There's that, my dealer, Rudy got me one that wasn't on there.

If you get a real VIN and it's not on the tool, it's still real.

Random question, but once a truck shows up on “kiss my grits”, does that mean it has left the factory, or that the allotment has been placed but not built?

I Don’t have a reservation but see a truck i like (AC, MT, V6, 4WD) being assign to local dealer so wondering when it may show up on dealer lot.

Maybe if I ever get it.
Yup, either lazy or deceitful (maybe both?).

In November when I asked, the assistant sales guy says:
"Once we get allocated your vehicle, if it's already built, we get the vin. If it's allocated to us and isn't built, then we get a ETA of the Production date. Once it's get built it gets a VIN and that gets forwarded to us."
In March, after telling me it's built and on the way, the sales guy says:
"Don't get them till they land at the dealership."

If they're going to lie, shouldn't they at least try to do it consistently?

Window stickers aren't required by law in Canada AFAIK. My guess is sales guy is just going to tell me there isn't one, or he can't see it until the paper one gets here with the truck. I'll try calling bs on the inconsistent replies though. I really hope it doesn't turn out the truck isn't built, not only because I wouldn't get the truck, but also because being blatantly lied to really pisses me off.

Edit: Just heard back from sales guy. Apparently "Use to get them after vehicle was built but now Toyota holds it till it arrives on our lot. They have more control that way." I'll ask how that gives Toyota more control.

Was at my dealership today and my salesman says he has no info on my truck yet. He said was it has a build date of 3/29, said I just got my "order" in just under the wire. Not sure how true this all is. He said build/delivery times are going to get longer. I put my deposit down on 1/23 and he said I'm lucky...hmm. We'll see...I would call lucky getting a phone call telling me my truck is here. Congrats to those of you who unexpectedly got your trucks when they didn't show up on the tracking websites! Talk about a nice surprise!
