So how mine happened, they had the allocation but only a temp vin and it only goes on their website after they get a real vin. It was the only one that I could put a deposit on because all the rest already had deposits. From my sales guy, they last 24 hours at the most.

So, it seems the best bet is someone backing out or trying to get on an allotment before it’s assembled.

Mine was supposed to be built week 13 but I have no clue if it actually was. It's still showing as "In transit" with a temp VIN# on the dealers website.

But let me ask you this. If I put a deposit on a truck, it’s allocated and being built, why put it on the your web page as if you have it or are even going to have it. Why advertise it or put it in your inventory as if it’s for sale..
    . I put a build together, I put a deposit on it, I signed the papers….it’s not for sale…it’s mine…

It’s all marketing for either a bait and switch (“Tacomas are cool and all, but have you seen this Sienna??”) or to get others signed up for deposits

Technically it’s only yours after you’ve done all the paperwork, paid for it and taken possession. They put it on the website to get more people to come in and ask, put down deposits, and may even get on a waiting list if you back out. My incoming BR DCSB TRD OR has 2 people behind me if I back out. Can’t really fault them for hedging their bets.

Which number are you looking at in the temp VIN for the build week? My temp VIN is 3TMCZ5ANXNM12B489. I’m assuming the 12 near the end means it was supposed to be week 12 build? It got pushed back from 3/26 to 4/11.

Same. I've got a week 12 build that was supposed to have been built on 3/27, but now dealer is telling me it got pushed back to 4/14. We'll see I guess.

Have you looked at it on the guest.dealer.toyota web site yet? My actual build date was suppose to be Friday so I may have to wait an extra day or two. If you can't look at your temp vin, let me know and I can do it.

Exactly, to line people up and also to get people calling in. That's how they brought me in honestly. I was messaging around, and exactly as he said, someone backed out, and I was already lined up asking about that exact vehicle.

Well finally got to pick mine up last friday. Flew out Friday morning to St Louis where the dealer, Twin City Toyota, picked me up from the airport. Easiest car I've ever purchased. Wired the money to them the day before I flew out so when I got to the dealer they had it gassed up and cleaned ready to drive home. Signed 2 pieces of paper, got my free tumbler :dancingbacon: haha and was on my way back to Texas. I was at the dealer less than 30 minutes and would've only been there 5 minutes if I wasn't so tired and looking over the truck so slowly. About to order a pro grill, not sure if I should the TRD Lift grill or just buy from tacovinyl.com any suggestions? Also was gonna order the actual TRD PRO tail lights as these things are hideous to me. I like the LED Messi ones but if they do get moisture in them that will drive me nuts eventually for the price of them. I saw the Pro lights for around $100 each, is that about average?

Oh also gonna pull of the TRD sticker on the side, I dont think the red looks that good on the green. I found some on wish but skeptical to order them as im afraid they will be thin and cheap. Any other suggestions?

My Tacoma was built on week 11 on schedule and I now have the real VIN. When I look it up on VSPEC it has an ETA of 4/9-4/20 but the dealerCategory = "A" making me think it hasn't shipped yet. Spoke with the dealer last week and they told me the ETA was 4/27. It has to get all the way to Massachusetts so we will have to see when it makes it here.

Glad week 11 was on schedule! Looks like the build week 12 and 13 (last week) may be held up. Trying to figure this out with other other's here if they have been messaged by their dealers or if they still have temp vins that work on the v-spec site. Hoping to not hear from my dealer that my build is also delayed.

Anyone know how they are shipping to the NJ/Philadelphia area? I saw a bunch of posts about Newark, but is that train or is that ship?

I understand but I also think it’s misleading because in most cases the factory isn’t sending them these trucks to put on the lot…The factory for a host of shitty reasons its sending them very basic models in very basic colors. I’ve had one dealer tell me they haven’t seen a limited in two years and 50% of their trucks have been white…what’s the deal with that? Some Japanese bio algorithm tells them people in one part of the state don’t like colors other than white black or silver? It’s just stupid if you ask me…

Ya my dealer was nice enough to park mine in the back of the lot away from all the other vehicles. They still had people coming in trying to buy it and they said they got really made about it even tho the website showed that it was under contract/sold. I wired my money the day before I got there but they had it for a week waiting on me to be able to fly up there to get it. Super easy to deal with and only had to sign a couple pieces of paper. Was able to put deposit down on temp vin the day they got allocated.

Because the truck doesn't belong to you, you are just the first person in line to buy it.

Trust me, I’m not saying it’s not stupid. There a lot of stupid the past 2+ years. But from a business point of view I understand and can’t blame the dealerships.

Now, the *ssholes that are marking up the trucks $5-15K, they deserve to be castrated and tossed into a pit. But, people are obviously paying it so
