Yeah. Still not sure if this is the actual build though. Maybe not… too many unknowns and the dealer is holding their cards close.

I checked out a similar build yesterday that was on a lot at a similar price point but in White. I doubt that will be on the lot for much longer.

I put down a deposit on this. The dealer said it was MSRP plus their $1,500 markup…is that the $1,595 Exterior/Interior protection charge shown here? Or is that something different?
I figured once the truck is actually there I would be able to negotiate to not pay the markup. Also, am I able to opt out of the accessories shown here (bed mat, mudguards, door edge guards, etc.) and save some money there?

Also, is anybody able to look this VIN up to see its status? I tried logging into Toyota’s website but it says it’s down for maintenance. Not sure if that’s even the right place to go!

    Thanks!8952438D-2649-4832-974D-19C7E9CF4E46.jpg

    That's for sure.

My Tacoma should be here in a couple of weeks, is it likely that I am going to be surprised with predator steps, undercoating, etc. when it shows up? Or, since I have the build sheet (which already has a bunch of stuff I didn't really want like the floormats, blackout package, etc.), is it going to be built that way?

They will most likely not negotiate once it’s there, matter of fact they most likely want you to cancel the order so they can market it up even more and sell it. Those are factory options and won’t be allowed off of the truck. Take it or wait another X amount of months and get similar stuff anyway.

It will probably match the build sheet.

that’s reassuring… I’ve got the same fear in the back of my mind that there will be a bait and switch when delivery takes place.

Dealers generally aren’t trying to be scummy about orders. I wouldn’t sweat it….

FWIW when my dealer first sent their allocation sheet over and it had some things I could live without, I politely asked if there was any way they could be left off but made sure they knew it was not a dealbreaker for me since the truck was otherwise exactly what I wanted. They were able to request the changes from the factory and they stuck. Ended up getting to skip out on the $70 quick charge cables, the $160 tailgate insert, the emblem blackout overlays (I wanted to debadge anyway), and a TRD shift knob. Just saying it doesn't hurt to ask. But if you'd rather take the truck with the extras than lose the allocation altogether, make sure they know you're serious about buying either way.

how are you all seeing mileage and stuff on the toyota app?? my allocated tacoma has been built since 3-2 and has a current eta of 4-13 to 4-18 on the VSPEC website but on the app everything is blank or N/A. Also 0 miles on the VSPEC website.

I have a feeling mine will be delayed :annoyed:

For me, the miles showed up in the app like 16 days after the build date. VSPEC always showed 0. Yet other people saw miles way earlier. I think there's some roll of the dice, tbh. The last thing I got was an ETA, so I think it's a good sign you at least have that.

So I got lucky over the weekend. My top color was AG and that is what my dealers were searching for. Over the weekend I was doing my daily dealer website browse and saw a TRD OR 6MT in Lunar show up at one of my dealers. Sent my sales guy and email and it happened to be available and immediately switched my deposit over. Apparently it will be here in June!

So now a few questions for those that are in the build process. I have a VIN, how do I go about tracking its status? Seeing when it is built, waiting at ports, in transit, the tire pressure, mileage etc?

Also, I typed in my VIN on the toyota dealer info site and see this as one of the lines - eta: {currFromDate: "2022-05-12", currToDate: "2022-05-17"}. If the sales guy said expect it in June what does eta mean in this case?

    Thanks!

I doubt they would remove the add-on. About half the dealerships near me are doing this b.s.

Great find. Maybe it’s a conservative ETA from the dealer. You may get the truck earlier based on vspec ETA. Is the VIN a temp vin or permanent VIN? If it’s a permanent VIN then the truck is already built and you’re way ahead of the curve.

Thanks! So I was able to log it into the app with the VIN so I assume is permanent?

Is there a letter in the last six digits? A letter indicates a temp VIN. I believe the 2 numbers before the letter would indicate the week of the year that it gets built.

Last 6 are all numerical digits. So I guess it has been built!

So in the app it shows N/A for odometer so I assume has not left factory? And where do people see tire pressure?
