Here's something to consider... Although the dealership is rather slimy for pulling that crap, if your wife is really set on the vehicle you can finance through Toyota and then a month later refinance with your credit union. I've done that in the past when Toyota would offer a cash rebate; I would finance through Toyota, get their money and refinance through my credit union. Very easy and seamless process.

I put a deposit down on 3/23 and am waiting for a DCLB TRD Offroad in LR or AG. Dealer said I might have a better chance of getting one since not many people want the double cab long bed.

But wouldn't this also mean one is less likely to be allocated in the colors I am looking for?

Another dealer told me he never sees the offroad model in DCLB, but I saw two of them as rentals at my local dealer both in the colors I wanted (they wouldnt sell them).

I kinda wanted to be able to camp with a topper and am wondering if I should settle with a SB if one pops up since I am only 5"4?

This isn't exact number but based of a sampling from autotrader and JoinYAA here's what I see. (Isn't an exact science) :)

    To summarize:
Excluding trims not offered with Manuals about 7.5% Tacomas are manual so about 1 out of every 13-14 (Sport/OR/Pros only)
The Pros have a higher manual frequency with about 1 in 5-6 (17-19 out of 100) (Pros only)
6.6% of all OR and Sports are Manual so 1 out of every 15-16 (6-7 out of 100) (Sport/OR Only)
With all trims included it's 25 manuals out of every 1000 (All Trims)
The dominant color for Pros is EL at 56%
If you want and EL manual pro you have a 9% chance or 1 in 11 chance that any pro coming in will be an EL Manual.

    AutoTrader
Tacoma Pro (New) 2022 (Nation Wide)
    104 Pros
    18 Manual
    86 Automatic
    17.3 % Manual All Pros
56% TRD Pros that are EL (Both Auto and Manual)

    48 Non EL Pros
    9 Non EL Pros (Manual)
    18.7% Non EL Pros (Manual)

    Electric Lime Pros
58 EL (Both Auto and Manual)
    9 EL Manual
    15.5% Manual/EL
    8.7% Manual EL/All TRD Pros
56% all TRD Pros EL (Both Auto and Manual)

    JoinYAA (Nationwide)
    10,237 Tacoma's Available
    249 TRD Pros Available
2.4% of all Tacoma's are Pros
261 of all Tacoma's trims are manual
2.5% Of all Tacoma trims including those offered without manual are manual.
3461 Sport/OR/Pros Available out of all Tacoma's (These trims offered with Manual)
7.5% of trims with Manual offered have manual (Sport/OR/Pros)

YAA Pros New (color filter not working)

Thanks @TheDudeinPhx; just a SWAG here, but given the significant possibility of the Gen4 Tacoma doing away with the manual option, my gut tells me it's imminent demise is spurring many folks, myself included, to put a deposit down on one before it's too late to buy a new Tacoma with three pedals under the dash. Said another way, it wouldn't surprise me at all to find the three 2022 (and potentially the 2023) TRD models offering a stick end up have a much higher manual take rate.

Manual rate increases may also mean they have bunch laying around they need to rid of before the new model so may see more. :)

I did see the other day that they are bringing back the supra with a M/T. The engineers at toyota love them. Its government regulations the will eventually be the end of them. :(

I was basing the 2% on the numbers i've been gathering on the spreadsheet which isn't exact either considering my truck was listed as presold and never even showed up on there.

If true, then they should have no problem getting one to me. I want the 4.30 gears and 44:1 crawl ratio the manual offers over the 3.91 gears and 36:1 crawl ratio of the automatic.

It's really nice for pulling trailers too, that extra low end gearing and not having any overheating tranny issues means you can tow a lot more weight.

How do we know that LR won’t be offered in 2023? I haven’t seen anything on colors for 2023, but curious as to what others have heard and from what source?

I about 10 days out from picking up my Electric Lime but my favorite color of all was the Calvary Blue. I love that color so much I've considered having the whole truck painted to something similar. Maybe I wait until it gets a few scratches. I initially hated how Lunar rock looked, then it started growing on me, to the point that's what initially ordered. now that love its kinda fading away again. Its a very unique color for sure, as with the ELG, I wonder how these crazy colors will age.

Agree, I initially loved lr but the more I see it dirty and covered in salt the less I like it (live in vt, on dirt road) I had initially ordered lr off-road but expanded my search a bit to include sport and silver and white. I had quicksand before, and would have ordered again… either way it should age well and looks bangin clean or dirty

Cant get offended, personally I Love the color now. not sure how I will feel in a few years. I kinda feel the same way about the Army green, just not my color. Its definitely popular though so I guess Toyota is doing a good job of covering the field.

One thing I just didnt understand was why they didnt offer Wind Chill Pearl On the Offroad. Thats a pretty cool color to not offer on your top model. maybe they didnt want the competition with the ELG.
