Hey TacoShoey, I saw your TempVIN and I'm a few hundred behind you (16B655). Same situation... where the VSpec URL returns not found. I tried to get more information from my salesman/dealer and he replied today that he would let me know when it starts production (Real VIN provided). No real information. I do have the VSpec build sheet (PDF), so that makes me more comfortable.

Looking thru the different threads on this site, I see that the Toyota's planned build week 12C was running about 3 weeks behind. This is when the tempVIN stops working on the VSpec lookup and the actual VIN is provided to the purchaser. As of 4/22, some reservations with 13B have posted that their previously working VSpec look-up stopped working, so their reservation should be close to or on the production line.

FYI... I'm reserved with Longo Toyota in CA for a 2022 Tacoma OR DCSB 4x4 w/LED Headlights.

Thanks for the info man! Good stuff! I’ll post on here tomorrow when I talk to my salesman and see what he says if he can give me the final vin. Some of what you said went way over my head I think I need to read more of this thread so I can get my head wrapped around it. What does 12 and 13b stand for?

If there is a letter in the last 6 its a temp vin. Once it become a real vin it will have no letter. The 13 is the week of the year its planned to be built, but that can get delayed (mine is a 13 but not built yet).

So I asked my dealership about the TRD lift and they quoted me $4500 installed… that’s like $3000 in labor. I’ll pass.

I rolled it into my order request, but I also have Toytec Lifts 90 minutes south of me in Denver if things go sour and they install what they sell too. I have Toytec leveling springs on the FJ Cruiser, so I have positive experience with their products too.

As somebody else already mentioned. Valid VINs have the lasthave a numeric portion. It is the last 6.... this is a serial number. Toyota provides a tempVIN encoding a build week (from what I've read), then switches out to the vehicles actual VIN once it is attached to the physical vehicle on the line.

So, my tempVIN has last 6 of 16B655. 16B655.... this means the vehicle is/was slated to be built in the 16th week of 2022 which is 4/18 - 4/24. I've read that this looks to be about 3 weeks behind the original planned schedule.

This part is more assumption then fact..... The last 3 digits (of this tempVIN) is probably a serial number for builds that week. I also have seen 'B' and 'C' letters in these tempVins. I'm not sure if this could be possible plant production line shifts or first half vs second half of the week or other? This is the heart of Toyotas TPS or Toyota Production System and how they manufacture vehicles thru allocation and shipment to dealers.

I work for a powersports mfg, so I come from some knowledge, but auto is quite a bit different then powersports (motorcycles, atvs, side x sides, etc...).

where are you located? its definitely not going to be this week but might only be a couple depending on where you live. Just for reference, mine ws built on 3/9/22, it was holding at the manufacturers lot until 3/23/22. since then it has been locked in a train car with no updates and is supposed to arrive at the dealer between 4/28/22 - 5/3/22. Buckle up, its a long journey. BTW My original estimated delivery date form the dealer was 3/28/22. they were way off.
