Ordered a " Rare " SR5 2.7L DCSB as the dealership put it a few weeks ago, got a general 90 day wait time..
Told me I'll get a 15 day notice of delivery with Vin#..
Shopped around a few Stealerships to price check and even used Costco auto program to get a " discount " lol what a joke they sent me to 2 different predatory Stealerships that charge $2k to $4k more then my local dealership with zero "discount"
#1 wanted $1500 in dealer add ons plus $1k doc fee plus the normal shipping & tax etc.
#2 wanted $3k in dealer add ons plus $1k doc fees plus $600 E filing of the docs plus shipping &tax etc.
My local dealership only charges MSRP from the Toyota website plus the standard $1215 shipping & $799 doc fees plus local tax with ZERO dealership add ons of any kind.. Zero " market adjustment fee" Literally can order bare bone stock if you wanted..I hear so many people being forced into dealer add ons recently it's sad..
The predatory Stealerships claim they can only order a vehicle loaded with add ons etc which is a complete scam..and should be reported to your Attorney general to get them some multi million dollar fines, seriously to get them to stop it..
No one should have to buy $73 phone charging cables or $184 security lug nuts or any other dealership add ons they don't want..

I find it interesting that others are saying that Toyota is not giving ETAs anymore. I still have an ETA showing on VSPEC (5/7-5/12). My truck is supposed to arrive at the Logistics Park today via rail from Mexico. It will be interesting to see if that holds true and my status changes to G soon.

If Vspec shows "Page you are looking for is not found" does that likely mean its hit the dealer?

Question for you all. I haven’t ordered with my dealer yet. Still debating, but I’m curious about something.

Let’s say I put down some kind of deposit and wait for a truck to be built like y’all.
How soon do you sign papers and start payments (if that’s your option)?

Reason I’m asking is because ideally I’d order a truck this weekend. They’d give me a date anywhere from a 30-90 days estimated of course. Then I would sale my truck a week or two before I was scheduled to pick up my new one. Then take a large down payment to the dealer the day I pick up?

Would it work that way or what?

There will be no paperwork or payments unless and until the truck hits the dealership and you take delivery. I put money down on a Tacoma back in mid-February and don't figure I'll need to sign anything until late this year, or some time next year, or possibly never (I'm holding out for a bit of a unicorn).

ah, yeah Blue Crush seems to be not being made anywhere near as much as AG or LR. But also a 6MT premium does sound really hard to find.

Long Beach must have issues. I originally thought mine was going to San Diego, but dealer confirmed it went to Long Beach on 4/27 as well. Mine still sitting there with no eta. This final wait is horrible!

In most cases, you'll need to leave a deposit to secure your spot (hopefully you get it in writing that the deposit is refundable). Sometimes your truck has already been allocated, sometimes the ideal match is already in process and is unclaimed, but your salesperson will work to match you to a vehicle. Once the truck arrives at the dealership, you'll be able to make a deal and take care of payment/financing.

My guess is that most dealers will be evasive when committing to a solid date because things are still in flux. Regarding your trade, you'll probably need to try to track the new vehicle and coordinate a sale ahead of time. You might want to advertise to local FB groups about 6 weeks after leaving a deposit, and you'll probably want to get quotes from Carmax/Carvana/others when your truck arrives. Couldn't hurt to get a dealer appraisal when you go in to view the truck.

I "just" did this today and found a number of dealerships, within a few hundred mile radius, with a comparable truck in transit or in stock. Such a good idea! Wish I would have done this 6 weeks ago, when I started this whole process.

What was your eta date before it disappeared? Wondering if yours is stuck in Long Beach too.

As long as when it arrives there isn’t a bunch of ridiculous fees and extras tacked on making it another 5k then I’d be okay. If so I’m taking my deposit and leaving with time wasted

Does anyone know if the "Build" or "Built" date is the same thing? I have seen both terms used. Also does the term mean that is the date they start to build the truck or is it the date the truck is completed? Thanks

When I finally decided on a new truck (takes me a couple years to work up to it cuz I get attached) I sold my manual 08 Ranger beginning of Jan. Put a deposit down on an EL pro mid Jan. Been driving my 11 Ram 2500 in the interim. Originally my salesguy said I'd have EL pro end of March. Will sign papers when I do eventually get the pro. Be prepared for delays; if dealer says 30-90 days take it with a grain of salt and don't set any expectations cuz they will be crushed. If you have another vehicle to get around, sell your truck now and squirrel the money until your new truck arrives. Otherwise I've read that some folks are getting a decent trade in value from dealerships or carvana. You can always put a deposit down and when you see your new truck move to "F" on vspec then sell your old truck. Lots of options for you.

Looks like it arrived at the Long Beach port on 04/27, that was the last update on it.

Mine is currently sitting in Long Beach as well, was estimated to depart the same day, obviously, that didn't happen, can only hope the delivery remains within the original window of 5/6-5/11. I wonder whats going on in long beach, seems to be the hang-up for most of us here.
