I've been using kissmygritts for a month now, sometimes, checking twice - https://flatgithub.com/kissmygritts...a753&sort=dealer,desc&stickyColumnName=dealer

Every time I found a model that met my specs, it was already sold when I reached out to the dealer.

On Monday I decided to expand my regional search and cold call a few dealers. A sales guy put me on hold to search and they found one with a 5/5 build date that wasn't spoken for. I avoided dealers that had nonrefundable deposits but the fact that there was a build date and it was what I was looking for, I locked it in.

3TYCZ5AN8NT18A075. I should be getting perm VIN in about 2 weeks.

Yes, In fact many people, in different threads here, have mentioned they do it. For me, 2nd to 3rd is the hardest shift to float. I sometimes "clash the suynchro) if I do not give 100% concentration. BUT..That's me you may find it easy to do. But I assure you, since you have experience on other MTs you will master it on your Taco within a day or 2. Yes it can do damage the synchros. BUT you used the word "Float" and that tells me you have the experience & skill to do it. Float is the EXACT process and the best word to describe the process. Up-shifting requires some skill, down shift is easier. if a person can rev match using the clutch, then it is identical except you rev match in neutral ( I only mention that for the person new to this & thinking about trying it)
BTW, Thank You for bringing up the concept of "Floating" It will make it way easier for me to describe in the future

I've been following this thread for a while, thought I would post my experience -

I put a deposit down on an allocated double cab long bed off road in the last week of February. The truck was scheduled to be built on March 18th and the ETA showed up to be April 28 - May 2nd. Just got the call today that my vehicle made it to the dealership, I'll be heading in tomorrow to pick it up! This is in Boise, ID.

the system in Canada must be way different than in the USA.
Ordered and deposit on an Off Road Pro Dec 30th when they took my 2021 OR in as a trade.
As of today, they have no indication if the Pro will be built, delivered, allocated. Nothing. Crickets.
At one point they had a delivery date of May 9th, but that was soon cancelled with no replacement date.
At this stage with all the pre orders they have, i doubt I could even get an regular OR anytime soon.
They did get ONE Lime Green Pro a few weeks ago, but that fellow waited 8 months for it.

Just out of curiosity, why? Broken leg? I get it on a motorcycle, you can't pull in the clutch with a beer in your hand.

The truck I reserved was supposed to be finished with rail shipping to the Logistics Park yesterday. No app updates as far as mileage, tire pressure, doors unlocked, etc. VSPEC still shows “F” status. Dealer hasn’t responded to me. I assume it’s either delayed or still sitting in a rail car. Delivery ETA still shows 5/7-5/12. I’m not holding my breath though since it appears I may be entering black hole territory.
