Called my salesman after hearing nothing for over a week, and knowing my truck had left Newark. Turns out my Tacoma should've hit the dealership Saturday night, but the truck it was on didn't show up. Should be at the dealer today, should have a picture confirming that by the end of the day.

From how my salesman was talking, it sounds like a lot of people are aggravated by the process of waiting to get vehicles instead of being able to just walk onto a lot and buy one.

This is why I think the people talking about dealerships never again having lots full of cars are crazy. Sure, they may not be as full of vehicles are pre-pandemic, but most car buyers are not going to wait a few months for a new vehicle to arrive. If Toyota dealerships doesn't have the vehicle available on the lot, they're going to go to Honda, Ford, Kia, Chevy, or whatever dealership that has a vehicle that meets their needs, and buy that. We are the outliers, in terms of being car enthusiasts, who are looking for something specific and willing to wait for it. Most people view their vehicle as an appliance...and there is little to no attachment to it. Sure, they may love their Toyota RAV4, but they'd replace it with a similarly optioned Honda CR-V, Ford Escape, Kia Sportage, etc. in a heartbeat and love it just as much.

Yup, this right here. A few people I know got something, anything they can get their hands on. I cringe, one of my buddies leased a Jeep Compass simply because that was the only thing available that was less than $400/month. Makes me throw up a little thinking about it lol

I'm buying from Pauly as well. So far, so good. I don't get updates either unless I ask, but salesman is quick to respond. I bought my last car from them about ten years ago and they were great back then so hoping there are no gimmicks this time either.

Well, whoever has their truck arrive first needs to report back on the sales experience. I'm not really worried...they've been great so far, just that normal trepidation until everything is signed, sealed, and delivered.

I think your salesman Joe just texted me after I inquired and responded that all of their Tacomas are accounted for and it will take 5-7 months to "order" one.

I’ve been bringing this point up for months, people were acting like Toyota was never going to have vehicles on the lot anymore. As if the service departments that are struggling don’t want the dealerships to sell more vehicles.

car sales are a volume business period. Your exact situation happened to my in laws. Leasing Rav 4s for years, local place didn’t have anything they brought home a ford no questions asked.
It’s already much easier to find a tacoma than 3 months ago. My friend told me they’re already getting 25% more vehicles and they’re expecting a lot more 2H 2022. Mix into all of this are gas prices continuing up, people are going to be looking in other areas besides trucks. Especially the Tacoma that gets the fuel mileage of a full size.
Don’t overpay these dealers for tacomas… they will be sitting on lots soon enough just like the old days.

Rod was kind enough to let me know my Truck is on the rails from San Diego. I'm not sure if that means it's completed 100% on its way or it's stopping off somewhere else for completion. Was hoping for early June delivery. Does anyone where they go from San Diego headed to the North East?

I got an update from my salesman today. My truck was scheduled to be on a boat in Mexico yesterday 5/8/22 so it should be on a boat crossing the Gulf right about now. From what I've read on this forum it generally takes 4 to 5 days to reach NJ. I'm sure it will sit in the port there for to long before its brought up to New Hampshire....That put my truck at the dealer a little more than two weeks from now...We'll see fingers crossed...

I'm sure there are stops along the way, then near where you are is probably when it gets loaded onto a truck.

there might be some accessories that are added at the yard before being loaded on the rail. Not sure Toyota does that, but I know Subaru does that based on region.

As long as production is not delayed, how long does the status remain in "A"?
The build date was 5/5, temp VIN stopped working on 5/6, got my perm VIN today.

I assume F (Freight) is the next status

https://www.transdevelopment.com/?project=new-england-automotive-gateway My truck left San Diego via bnsf and is headed to here to await ground transport. Not sure how how much of north east it services, I’m in metro Boston area.
