Mine has been sitting at the Logistics Park rail hub in Illinois since the 7th which is only an hour truck drive to the dealer. I wonder what's causing the pause. I don't even see any mileage or any update on my Toyota app either.

man as frustrated as I ever got, I never got to the level of buying a Ford, GM, or Dodge. I guess if thats where you are at then go for it.

Funny enough I was initially looking at the Ford Maverick only because they're cheap and seemed to be a decent truck that checked all my boxes. But due to lack of supply and insane ADM's, I stopped and switched to looking at Tacomas.. And now here I am still waiting for delivery of a truck that's 150% more than the Maverick but at least I'm not paying over MSRP.

after watching some of the off road comparisons between the two, you definitely made the right choice, even if you dont go offroad, you will get better resale value

I've owned a vehicle from all of those companies. I never had any real bad luck from any of them. However, a full size truck is not what I'm looking for anymore. If I was going to stray away from the Tacoma, it would be to buy a Frontier. But, the Tacoma is the truck that really fits what I want and need. If it would just show up at the dealer, I'd happily drive it home and forget about all of what it took to get it. It's just some steam venting out so I don't make a dumb decision and walk away from a truck that has my name on it.

Yea but the wait will be worth it. I was headed into an F150 or even a Maverick if I could have found a hybrid base model. I'd pay $20k for one but not $35k for a Maverick. After a few months of internal debate a $40k Tacoma makes more sense. The Fords will depreciate at lightning speed and I know if I get bored (I wont) with the Tacoma I'm getting most if not all of my money back.

I don't think there is any further assembly after it gets on a train. Not sure if it gets taken to a ship if it's going all the way to the northeast or a train ride across the country. If you dig several pages back I think someone mentioned getting their truck somewhere in that region and may have more details on what their delivery route looked like.

I'm curious to know if there is any pattern in the timing (time of day specifically) of when people have seen their dealerCategory status change from F to G or from A to F. Understanding any level of accuracy would depend on how closely people are refreshing VSPEC to the actual change on the web page. I ask because I'm wondering if Toyota updates in "real time" or if they utilize some type of scheduled batch processing to update all changes at a certain time of day. Personally, my truck transitioned from A to F sometime overnight on April 20-21st, which was about 8 days after the dealer portal recorded the truck actually moving to the rail portion of delivery....so, not exactly a timely update on the VSPEC side. If we could identify a pattern, it would save us the trouble of refreshing VSPEC countless times per day (well, at least me).

I've been wondering the same thing, and I have noticed there may be a lag on vspec. For instance, my truck gained a mile on the odometer on 4/25. 4/25 was the original date it was due to arrive in port of long beach. That makes sense. But then dealer vspec shows it arrived in long beach on 4/27 but odometer never changed on 4/27. Do I still update vspec throughout the day...of course because hope is all I have right now.

What time of day did you notice the transition from A to F in VSPEC for your build?

Had to go back thru my texts to my dad....I noticed my truck went from A to F on April 21 @ 0544, so maybe it updated over night.

Interesting. So, we both updated overnight. Thanks for checking.

I'm curious to hear what others have seen.

I'm not sticking up for Toyota, as I do think their processes here could be improved, but these problems/delays aren't unique to them...it's every manufacturer across the board facing microchip shortages, dealing with freight/shipping delays, etc.

I’m almost to the point where I don’t even want the truck anymore.
F Toyota….honestly I can deal with most of it but I’m close to saying screw it, I’ll keep my current truck and buy something in 2023 or 24
I’m really sick of begging people to take my money for a dumbed down product…

Once I entered my permanent VIN into V-Spec (which was the next day after it was built), it had always been F status. I thought it was because it had already been through assembly with a temp vin.

I looked at the Mav too. Had the salesman talked down to MSRP (his first offer was $3k over), walked out with a signed order, then called him up and cancelled a few days later. Man did I have major buyer's remorse. This was back in November. Now, the more I see and hear about the Mav, I'm so glad I went with the Tacoma. Nothing beats the reliability and value of this truck. It beats the Mav on looks and performance too, IMO.

Just got off the phone with my salesperson after asking for an update. Shipping is looking pretty bad right now (as we're all aware) and Toyota is not really giving the dealers much info. He's expecting another 45-60 days before it'll arrive, which is super fun. For reference, mine was built on 4/25. Not sure if everyone's will be like that or if I just drew the short stick on shipping.

Today's update from the dealership... truck was built 5/6, on a train to Illinois 5/9,
Dealership says it will arrive in about 3 weeks.
