Same. I really do believe 100% that if you expand your research and contact dozens of dealers you will find what you are looking for without having to pay over MSRP. I was willing to driver 5+ hours just to find a dealer who doesn't mark up and had an ETA of less than a month and fortunately, I found one that's an hour drive from me. Unless of course you are in desperate need of a truck and time is an issue. But then again, you should be considering other competitors as well and not just the Tacoma.

I paid msrp but I would not have walked away over a $1k mark up. $1k on top of $42k is a drop in the bucket. On long island the dealers are adding a minimum $4k on top and that's a good deal. TRD Off Rd not to far from me in LR available immediately was $15k over the sticker price of $41k. 56k???? So in my neck of the woods an extra grand wouldn't deter me if that was the only option.

Toyota trucks are off the table for me in this market. Most of the competitors aren't far behind. They will survive.

Yes, we as consumers have to stop paying the premium now only to get screwed later. When used values drop off a cliff soon, you’ll walk into the dealer in a few years and your truck is worth -50% less . Generally tacomas hold value, but they won’t if gas is sitting above $5.00+ a gallon. They get the same fuel mileage as the full size trucks. I love tacomas but that’s just reality. Last time has spiked a bit over a decade ago, the mid size truck market was basically crushed. (Hence why all the Tacoma competitors dropped their mid size from the lineup) they only came back in recent years.
The tables are turning quickly, don’t overpay and get stuck holding the bag.

I have noticed a downward trend in how much places like Carmax and Carvana are asking for Tacomas. I refuse to buy from them, but they are a pretty decent gauge of market trends. As soon as gas went over 4, a few K's dropped of their asking prices.. at least in some trims.

They were asking for way too damn much anyway. They weren’t really moving either since I favorited so many of them to see how long they stayed for sale.

There was a 2018 or 2019 Pro on there with like 110k miles and they want like 41k for it. It sat there for months.. it's finally gone. I wonder if they sold it or auctioned it off.

I have been waiting on my allocation to come through since Nov (V6, Double Cab, Army Green, Tech Package base, OR) is this a normal wait time still or should I be looking to start an allocation elsewhere?

I had to shop around. My preferred deal had one allocation for a sport that was not spoken for. That was the only Tacoma allocated that was not presold. I lucked out and found a TRD OF MT about a hour from me with no dealer mark up. Now just waiting for it to show up at the dealer.

BTW I was looking for a TRD OF 6MT with no tech package or anything else for that matter.

Same truck I have been waiting on since October from a dealer in VA. It has been sitting in NJ for 2 weeks. Hopefully not much longer.
