Wow, that's rude. I would contact Toyota Corp and tell them that's what the dealer told you. I saw something in my response from Toyota Corp that my message/concern was logged, so I think Corp keeps track and maybe has a come to Jesus meeting if a dealership gets a lot of complaints.

Depends: 1) any deal breakers on it? 2) is it sitting at dealership and ready to drive home? 3) if it's at the dealership are you ok with paying $2k more for a truck NOW. 4) is your deposit on your sport refundable? If not, gotta factor that in as cost of doing biz. Speed costs money, how fast do you wanna go? ;)

That would be a hell no. Why? Principle. That said, I have the luxury of not needing a new vehicle now.

I called my dealer on changing my allocation to that, at first they didn't know about the color, then they said it would likely be Feb-Apr before I see the truck. Didn't want to discuss price.

    None yet.....
I 99% agree that there's nothing special about these trucks.......except for the f@#%ing manual transmission, which is the main reason I'm going through this to get one. I should have realized earlier in life that they would eventually all be gone and held onto one of my previous trucks to scratch the itch with.

I searched for a good amount of time for what I wanted, dealing with 7 dealers, then out of the blue the nearest dealer called me and they had on order what I was looking for, they wanted $2K over MSRP, and I got them after some haggling to take $1K over MSRP, not going to break the bank. Now when bored I searched dealer's inventory and I'm finding what I wanted with fewer options or the short bed & the MSRP is higher than what my truck's MSRP is, and that isn't even adding the markups cause they all say to call...So I feel in today's world I got a decent deal

Only way I would pay any markup or correction price, is if they gave me the exact amount difference for my trade in.

I'm a few months, maybe even a year, this whole above MSRP crap should be a distant memory. Bond rates increase also signify a recession, so not many people will be buying new cars, so I'm waiting it out for the vehicle stock to swing the opposite direction.

Depends on a few things. Straight answer = NO, I would not pay $2k mark-up.

Only if I need the truck immediately as a DD or work, I would haggle down to MSRP, if not maybe $500-$1k over at the absolute best.
But that's just if one absolutely needs the car immediately, and have no choice.

I agree that the truck is nothing special, but the way things are now, it definitely is a needle in a haystack for a build like that.
Besides, it looks like Toyota just started raising MSRP prices anyways. (Didn't check myself, but heard many ppl's feedback)

After almost four months I finally got the call. Supposedly the build date is set for next month. I couldn't be more happy:)

Could one of you fine gents or ladies could direct me to a post where I can learn to look up info on the temp/permanent VIN?

If not, could someone tell me the details on 3TYCZ5AN5NT228788

Thats what I thought but this is the VIN the dealer gave me. They are sending me the VSPEC today so I will be able to confirm. Maybe the 14th digit is a B instead of an 8. All of the other digits in the VIN are correct. 2022 TRDOR DCSB Lunar Rock 6MT

Looks good! If I don't go with the TRD Lift Kit which has one, I will be sourcing one or something similar right along with a modest aftermarket lift.

Was told today that my truck is at the port in New Jersey….must be a lot of them because I got calls from 3 other dealers today saying they are expecting trucks in….2 dealers at 5K over MSRP…I just laughed at them…no thank you…one didn’t pull the 5k over but low balled my trade by 3k…3 other dealers and carvana gave me 18 to 19k for my truck this clown offered me 15k and as soon as I said no he came up to 17,500…I just walked out…
