How long did you have to wait for your factory 2022 order/request/whatever it is called?

Agreed. As of Tuesday, my 4/6 build will have been sitting at the LP for 3 weeks. I get the whole trucking issue thing, but 3 weeks to find a vehicle carrier to make a 5 hour delivery from IL to OH? It doesn’t make sense. My trade in has been sitting barely used since April to avoid additional miles or risk of getting damaged. I’m starting to reconsider this entire purchase. Especially, if the dealer starts to balk on the quoted offer on my trade in. Very frustrating….

 

Dealers know if you walk away from the deal someone is waiting for that tacoma, and they might pay a higher price

 

Completely agree. They have the upper hand right now given supply constraints and absolutely idiotic people paying thousands over MSRP. That coupled with used car prices starting to drop puts me in a less than favorable bargaining position. A month ago, Carvana was offering $4k more on my current vehicle than today. I can only assume the dealer will try to reduce what they originally quoted me on my trade in. If they go too low, I will walk away. Originally, the Tacoma was only going to be about $10k out of pocket for me. I doubt that will be the case now.

I’m fortunate that I don’t need a new truck. I have a 6 year old 4Runner in perfect shape with only 80k miles. It should last another 10 years easily. I wanted the Tacoma for the bed alone to make hauling things for remodeling and yard work easier.

 

Did you put a deposit on the tacoma and get trade in price all in writing?

 

I went 2 weeks ago made a deal and trade, all in writing with a deposit. Truck built date June 6 or 8,. Had my friend last week inquire about with a different salesman on availability, he was told its spoken for

 

I paid the $500 refundable reservation. I wasn’t about to give any more than that sight unseen. The dealer would not put the trade in offer in writing more than a month ahead of the actual sale taking place. I can’t blame them given the volatility in the market currently. That would be a dumb business decision on their part. The timing simply sucks and the delay in delivery has only made the situation worse.

 

$500 deposit I put down as well. Offer on Mt trade was taken, I brought title with me but they not until day of pick up. I assume cause they might think I will back out of deal, or what if issues happen, like my tacoma get damaged in transit, etc.

 

Question about the APP
I entered the temp vin # and my truck shows up, once it's built and give the permanent vin # do I have to enter it to update or will it automatically do so?

Too bad a better real time testing system similar to a breathalyzer hasn't been implemented yet vs urinalysis. Since the end result is to keep actual impaired commercial drivers to a minimum.

 

Agreed. There are better alternatives in development. Who knows if or when the DOT will get with the times.

I was at least hoping to be able to remote lock/unlock doors, but that’s not an option.

Anyone on here receive their week 18 build?
Thought that I had seen that some were in G status.

 

My week 14 build is still F. I wouldn't get my hopes up on other's status based on build date. It appears that getting a truck delivered in a timely manner is completely luck of the draw.

 

Is yours coming from Guanajuato? Or Baja California?

 

I think you can do it once you “activate” it which means putting a code into the app that’s displayed on your truck. Since we don’t have the trucks, that can’t be done at the moment. I’m not sure if this is the same for MT vs AT.
