I'll be ordering a Softopper next week. I'm still trying to decide which tires to go with in a 255/85/16. Don't know if I want to go with the Toyo MTs or Cooper ST Maxx.

I want to run that size so bad but the lack of options makes it tough. Not trying to daily a MT haha.

yeah, that's probably why I'll run the ST Maxx, more of a hybrid. Unless I can find the Mastercraft Courser CXT's somewhere.

Are the dates allocation requests get approved the same for all dealers? Is it on like a set schedule?

I believe dealers get allocations every two weeks. It seems that the way things are nowadays that they get what they get. The last few years I was able to tell a dealer exactly what I wanted and they would say, "okay, we will have it in about 30 days."

Still have my fingers crossed the build estimate holds. I check the temp VIN every day like a tracking number.

The last 6 digits in your temporary VIN, what are the two numbers in front of the letter? (i.e.: *********05A345).
The 05 in front of the A in the example states the 5th week of the year which would be the 1st week in February for the build date.

    02. I know how the VIN works. Was told it would be built the week of January 10. I'm just really excited, it's my first new vehicle since 2004. I keep looking at all the dumb shit you can do to them...

My temp VIN is/was 50C890. It supposedly built ~Dec 17 with an expected delivery date of Jan 3-10, which turned to Jan 12-17 and now 18-24...
Is this typical? My first new vehicle ever.

    Brand new.
I hear exactly what you are saying. I ordered a 2002 in November and they are telling me that sometime in April I should either get it or they will put in the order, it is confusing what the dealerships are saying these days. They tell me they have to wait for their monthly allotment to put in my order. If they don't seriously, have it ordered before April. I may take my deposit back and walk away.

Those dates fluctuate. Mine went from December 14 to December 16 to December 31 back to December 15 and arrived the evening of December 13. I say you get it before the 10th.

You are not able to “order” a vehicle of your choosing from Toyota. You tell the dealer what you want and he requests that allotment. Toyota issues allotments twice a month around the 1st and the 15th. Larger volume dealers are given more allotments. Your dealer is at the mercy of Toyota’s system and your best bet would be to request an allotment at several different dealers, even out of state if you are able to travel. The best bet is to go back through this thread and there is a lot of info which you are able to educate yourself on Toyota’s system. The dealer is not yanking your chain.

Yes, it is not unusual. Once built and is at port waiting for rail transport, then ground transport, the dealer is dependent on when the rail leaves as well as the ground transport. Both systems of transport are variable and that is the reason dates change.

Does anyone know how the regional allocations actually work? I've read and understand everything about the Toyota allocation order (haha, request and hope) system - what I'm asking is about regional specific offerings and order.

For example, right now, the SE 'region' can apparently build & price a TRD Pro or Trail on the Toyota site, and that supposedly means allocations are actually being sent to dealers. I am in NJ and I can't build & price those when I use my zip code, so I am guessing dealers in my area are *not* getting allocations for the TRD Pro and Trail trucks yet.

I guess, to be clear - does anyone have any idea on the order of release to the different regions?

I just spoke with my dealer in the Denver area (as I haven't seen any allocated out west here yet). He told me that in the last allocation (1.5 weeks ago) they did get 2 TRD Pros allocated (he's expecting them to arrive sometime around mid-Feb). So, while I can't build any TRD Pro (or Trail Edition) on the site, and I haven't SEEN any inventory in this area, they are apparently starting to make their way out west.

Not an explicit answer to your question, maybe even raises more questions, but perhaps a bit more info to throw on the pile for future guesses about what will happen.
