You think the prices are bad for new ones, the used market is worse. I've seen numerous ORs going for around the $50K mark.

I called a ton of dealerships, and they are mostly going MSRP to the +$4k from what I've seen.

And more bad news. They say that up to 90% of Toyota's are already pre-ordered or spoken for. The shortage could drag on for 1-2 years yet. Maybe rising interest rates and gas prices may help moving forward?

Yep, I was glad they did it. Separates me from folks who might have a hard time getting financed.

    Itz JDM tyte, yo!

I was looking for the same truck (Lunar Rock TRDOR 6MT) and it happened to me multiple times.

I hope that me moving on to a white TRDOR will help you at least a bit lol.

While at prices, a dealer in my state is asking a bit above $50k for their TRD Off-Road and $67k for their TRD Pro.

@Rod03 It is really neat that you are able to help people with info. My salesman said my truck was waiting to get loaded on a truck for delivery to dealer. Could you please check on mine. 3TYCZ5AN0NT080354 I was hoping to get it this weekend. 2 hours to dealer would be hard during the work week. If you have time, I would appreciate it.

For those wondering about their truck. This was generally my timeline.
Put 500.00 down on trd dc off road, army green premium package- March 24
Got call from salesman on April 25, found allocation almost what I wanted. Had to add Tech package, no LED lights or mudflaps
Got Build date of - May 19
    Put on hold -May 20
Got permanent VIN number from salesman - May 23
Truck departed by rail San Diego to Lordstown Ohio - June 2
Truck arrived to Lordstown - June 17
Truck shipped by semi to dealership June 23 - Purchased same day
    Hope this helps someone waiting?

I've had a deposit on a Lunar Rock TRD OR AT 5' bed since Jan 18th. I'm more than frustrated. I get a text every two weeks saying they (my dealer) didn't get one allocated. Just getting impatient. I definitely did not expect it to be 6+ months. Was guessing around 4.

I was wondering if anyone saw their auto insurance increase, almost double. I had a 2016 TRD sport and just purchased a 2022 TRD Off Road. My insurance just about doubled in cost. Anyone else experience such a jump in cost on insurance? Just wondering if being an "off road" caused the increase? I know there are other factors, but this blew me away.

Well, I have mixed feelings on the topic. After spending much time thinking about it, I’ve come to the conclusion it’s the invisible hand at work.

There are supply chain issues. The number of available vehicles has come down.

Dealers make money when they sell cars. If they sell fewer cars at old prices, they make less money; but their costs don’t change, so they need to charge more to generate the same revenue across fewer vehicles.

Taking advantage of the situation? I can see that argument. But if a business cannot make it selling at prices that don’t reflect market conditions, what are they to do?

It sucks it really does, and I was originally mad about the situation. As we all know any popular car is now going for prices above MSRP in a lot of areas.

I watched one of YAA’s videos on YouTube and the had a point that made sense to me. The prices on Toyota’s website are MSRP. As in Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price. In the past without supply issues we often got away with paying less, in the current situation… At the end of the day, this is simple supply and demand.

I do think the day will mostly come to an end once supply sorts itself out (obvious, I know). I also think many manufacturers will move to direct sales. Ford is moving forward with it on electric cars, following in Tesla’s footsteps. All the others will probably follow suit, and the era of buying above/below MSRP will mostly come to an end.

Salesman is correct, the truck is sitting at the logistics park. Waiting to get pick up.

I like everyone on here, I was looking for Lunar Rock, Off Road, Long Bed, cloth seats. 7 different dealers as well as me searching outside my area on the internet. I found the truck but short bed, from the 7 dealers 3 of them said to come in order it with a deposit but not guaranteed to get it, all 7 said hard find, 4 never got back to me. Late April I got tired of looking and getting BS dealership phone calls trying to put me in a truck I didn't want. Then early may the dealer 15 mins from me called and said they have allocation with what I want, day or two later I showed up at dealership unannounced, they showed me the order, build date week of June 6th, with delivery 1st or 2nd week of July, so far timing is on point. It left by train from San Diego. From reading here I'm convinced higher volume dealers get preference over lower volume dealers

The market right now favors the smaller, less volume dealers (pre pandemic). Those dealers don’t need to mark up as much simply because they were always lower volume dealers.

The (normally) large volume dealers are the ones hurting the worst right now and seem to have to charge the most on markups because they’re not getting the inventory needed to keep up with their costs. So the market has actually reversed as far as deals go.

Dude I’ve financed, insured, and registered this stupid ass truck. I make my first payment in 2 weeks and the dumb thing is still at the rail yard.

This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever experienced, and I’ve spent 18 years in the military..

Wow, yeah, that sucks. My dealership wouldn't even entertain the idea of financing until the truck is on their lot.

I wouldn't be paying a cent for a product not delivered, what happens if it's damaged in transit?

Why would you finance, insure, and register a truck that's not in your possession? What if something happens to the truck as far as damage ? What happens if it was damaged to point its totaled?

I am going to be in the exact same situation, not ideal, but securing the 1.75% factory financing was worth it to me. If my truck arrives damaged, I have confidence in my dealer to “make it right”.
